    Annodizing a boomstick

Hey i was thinking aobut doin a home annodizing thing, once i have the stuff and practice a lil. But i was wondering, how would the steel on a part affect the anno, or would the anno affect the steel? Because ive got a boomstick that i might do, n the steel back part cant be removed.

Ive checked all kinds of anno guides and sites, noone really mentions it.

Also, while im askin about annodizing, anyone know how one does patterns? I heard one can use hotglue for some patterns. If that works, do u put the hot glue on before the acid wash or right before dying?

    Tnx

Don't try to anodize steel. If you are anodizing your boomstick, you will have to separate the front from the back (it is glued in, I believe) and anodize the aluminum front ONLY. If you try to anodize steel, it will dissolve.

Here is a sample of what acid can do to steel but not aluminum.

If it is glued then it isn't threaded and getting the 2 halves lined back up afterwords will be an issue.
