Just wanted to show off my work. I wouldn't of been able to do it without a lot of help from this forum. You guys rock! First I'll start by citing some sources. This is the original post that I found out about this mod:
Basically the automag has a sear that needs to be mechanically pushed. In order to do this the idea was to take a small ram and a small solenoid and a low pressure source and go. The original E mag used a big *** solenoid to actually trip the sear which is why you see those huge *** batteries on them (the fore grip thing). This setup uses hardly any battery power as all it has to do is move the little solenoid that lets air into the ram to do all the work. Plus you get the wonderful feel of an ego frame and great LCD as well.
What was needed:
Ram
Solenoid
Ego Frame + Board
LPR
cocker 3-way hose, barbs and set screws
stainless steel end for the ram for long life
The RAM & Noid and little misc stuff can all be purchased from:
The challenges:
-Fitting the ram inside the frame
-getting low pressure inside the frame to the noid
-getting the frame to fit the mag
The process:
I started with a mpa-3 as a ram:
You basically need to shave this thing down as small as possible to fin in the frame. I used a dremel at first, then a flat file to get a decently smooth flat edge on both sides.

Then you need to notch the ram for sear travel:

Then I grinded as much off on the frame itself till the ram fit snug into the frame:
