    Water Transfer Printing

team mate of mine bought this huge tub that does water transfer printing...so far he only has a few different rolls of patter he can do but wanted to try it out on a marker body so i volunteered my strange shocker body i had just sitting in a box get beat to hell...once i get the rest of the hardware i need and an oring kit for the shocker, i'll be field testing it to check durability...i'll report back later with the results...

Looks good. Did it stretch oddly around the body in any places? I'll be interested in the durability of this, been considering water transfer printing to MARPAT my Minimag or something...

TPG, if you look at most of the camo hard parts such as bows, and the wood grain stuff in your vehicles they are mainly done in the same manner. The piece is made, then dipped, then dried. For auto's they usually put on a clear coat, but for hunting pieces and such it's left dull.

So yes it can be as durable as anything else... but like all of it... stuff does scratch, dent, ding, bend...

I would be stoked if I could get someone to do a carbon fiber print for my warp-left ULE body...that would be the final touch to my Carbon Fiber E-mag

Alright...what do I have to do to get you to do one for me? Do you guys plan on providing this as a service in the future?

i'm talking to him about offering the services to those who'd be interested...he needs to figure the cost of the material plus labor of course before he determines a price...

Cool...I will be the first one to sign up, as long as I don't have to sell my wife to be able to afford it.

Awesome! I came across a post on MCB from a company that does this and had a question.

There shouldn't be any problems doing the outside of valves (Classic or X-Valve) should there? I figured with the problems you here about trying to anodize an X-Valve this would be a nice alternative.

                  Any thoughts?

I didn't think so either but figured I'd ask.

It might work, it might not. Over- or under-tightening the field strip screw can misalign the valve and cause bolt stick - I'm not sure if the added thickness from a water transfer would cause a similar issue. It's possible you could solve this by masking off the area where the valve would touch the rail...

How much thickness does this process add?

there are several sites around providing the service, personally i would rather deal a great AO'er. Cost seems similar to annodizing (and yes there is always the exception) i have seend sites with paintball marker pricing from 175-350, each one defines complete a little different but are willing to do extra parts for some dollars.

The process as i am aware is a film of material plus overcoat protectorants... the film itself shouldnt cause tolerance issues, sealing and protecting might cause some issues it all really depends on the one providing the service.

What would really set this off would be the ability to have custom prints/films made. Or a larger selection of films via special order. Most shops who are doing this service have a very limited selection of films. There are more out there i know it.

I would be one to be on board already, just need to select a nice film...
