    Delrin Automag Rail.

    Could it be done?

for a MM/AM mag. not an EMAG or RT.

sorry if its been asked before/ if there already is one.

i think it could work. theres no pressure in the rail, and no reason why delrin or lexan would'nt hold up to the forces put on a rail. Plus, as light as it is, there would be no reason for UL milling, and it could be machined easily.

    Discuss.

i have my fire proof suit on, so flame away.

maybe if it dont snap from the pressures if you tripped your gun is in pieces though just a thought if you try this put bolts though to stiffen it maybe 2 really long bolts front to back

dont see why not, should be plenty strong enough as it only acts like a spacer. The only place it might break would be right in front of the grip frame where the foregrip mounts

If it's thick enough to withstand the necessary tension and that much lighter than a ULE rail, it'd be worth it.

hmm, the things u could do to a delrin or similar rail.... I want lol

as for the fore-grip mount, one could always make a rail where the foregrip is a part of it

I'd say no to the delrin. It might hold up, but Automags are particularly tolerance-sensitive. A slight change in the thickness of the rail will completely change the way the trigger, sear and on/off pin interact and could cause your marker to behave oddly or just plain not work. Delrin easily swells and shrinks enough given humid or arid conditions (or even just a little lube) to cause some serious issues with your 'mag. Ever get a delrin bolt wet while it's in your marker? Go ask some 'cocker guys if they carry a spare non-delrin bolt and why. It'd only get worse with a part that's exposed to both the elements outside and the lube inside the marker.

Actually the rail is the backbone of the gun and keeps the body and valve from"Whipping" when fired. But derilin should work fine, if you can overcome the way the material reacts the weather. It's a little hard to machine too. and if it's lite you want check out the RPG shadow or Luke's custom rails.

aren't there other plastics that would be better suited for this? What's so great about delrin?
