    Micro Clone Woes

Well i got a micro clone body recently, missed my old ptp micro. Was hopin this one would be similar, but only recently found out the clones had a number of issues.

So, the problems ive run into so far:
The body is cocker threaded, but I believe the chrome or something built up in the threads, making it impossible to screw a normal cocker barrel in without major probs (I.e. barrel stuck in body, similar to getting threads crossed).

The Detent hole appears to be too far forward, and from the looks of it, the detent holes are added by the users, and this one wasnt done with much fore-thought Since the detent is so far forward, the paintball has quite a bit of room to move in the chamber, which may lead to probs.

So, I'm wondering, is there a way to fix the barrel threads? And any ideas as to wat i can do aside from drilling another detent hole?

At the moment, ive modified a cocker barrel to fit the body well enough, but unless i fix the body threads, this gun will only be able to use modified barrels.

Talk to Xmagterror. The barrel threads inside the body can be re-threaded to clean them up. The detent hole you might be boned on though...

Hmm k, ill see about the threads, tnx

as for the detent, i guess i can leave it n see how it affects shooting, if its bad i may needa do something, was thinking about making something similar to a ptp micro's detent, with a cover n a plastic nubbin or something, that way i might be able to cover that hole too.

Yup, chasing the threads should solve that problem, all you need is someone with the proper tap and about five minutes.

As for the detent, maybe you could plug the hole with JB Weld and re-tap and thread? It's hardly ideal (and you might not want to do it if you're considering ano), but it should work for a detent since it's not a pressurized fitting or anything.

You could just have the hole welded up. I would make a plug out of brass or copper to fit the bore behind the hole. Then take it to a good welding shop and have them fiill the hole. The plug will keep the weld out of the bore and make cleaning up easy or not needed. Then you can grind, file, and sand the outside weld to blend in. Then relocate the hole to where it is suppose to be. If you take your time cleanning it up it should be invisable.

drill the detent hole on the other side LOL that way there is no issue of the plug getting in the way

just above it, the flat area between the side with the detent and the top. Only prob i could see with that other than looks is that the detent may not reach smaller balls since it's up top.

Wonder if i might be able to just drill the detent hole right next to the current hole, then fill up the extra space with somethin, maybe usin a bolt to keep the inside nice n round.

That detent hole might not be that bad. Try it before you attempt to fix anything. You might be able to get away with using a 'deep' detent. Take the oring off the outside. That should allow it to get deeper inside the body.

I hear that there are a whole mess of bodies out there which have misplaced detents. I havent heard of anyone with feeding issues though.

will do, was just thinkin a lvl 7 bolt may slice another ball halfway in the breech if the other ball was too far up. but yea i'll test it once my detent comes in.

also while workin on this, i was lookin for another micro for a friend to use n found this gem in near mint condition (made my heart skip a bit):

Just wanted to show it off:P

Hey PM Tracy_PTP and ask her if they have any of those PTP detents she could sell you. XMT or Luke could put one in there very easily for you.

**Edit** They used to have a version of that detent on the VMX body that was held in with two 8/32 socket head screws. That would be the one you want to ask for.
