    project question

I am building an M-16 mag. I will not show you pics until I am close to done, and I wasn't planning on telling you until then, but I need your help. Most of you probably know of this website:

He attaches the grip to the lower receiver by making the tab thing out of JB weld. Like so:

I need to know if this is strong enough.

The question isn't really if it's strong enough, because it is. The question is more, is it flexible enough to prevent it from cracking when subjected to impacts. My guess would be that it's good enough, as long as you have a clean ruff surface to start with.

JB is machinable, but i have never tapped or even drilled that material.

It says you can drill and tap it, I just can't imagine epoxy being that strong. I mean, the grip is going to be like a 4-5" lever.

BTW exo_outsider and i are working on this in my garage.

And here're a couple teaser pics.

looks as if its shaping up to be one killer mod/custom.

are you going to support the thread with a tidbit tutorial for other reference work.

and like others have mentioned it should be strong enough as long as its not overly abused.
You may also be able to gain some integrity if you form up the lowers fill and block up for the grip tab doing it all in one pour.

Note sure how much better it would be, but it seems one more solid peice might be stronger than just a "butt" attached tab.
