    Gripframe shift/ underfeed mag

I am planing on making a mag with underfeed spring tube. This idea has been in my head for a while and the new first strike rounds brought it to the surface. I have searched this forum and have found several posts about people doing such things. Only problem is there pics no longer work. The only one that i found to be very help full is this one.
    http://automags.org/forums/showthrea...ght=grip+moved

Any info or pictures regarding setting a mag up for a under feed would be great.

I will be playing around with solidworks since i just got it to learn and shape some ideas.

this is an Idea thread so feel free to add or comment on it.
    Some ideas so far:

    Use curent gripframes
uni body/rail to allow a better configuration for the gripframe/valve screws.

Spring feed clips/mags that fit into the rail under the breach.
Clips fit both standard and FS rounds
    Warp/Qloader compatable
trigger attaches directly to the sear or use a really short sear rod.

Reading the other thread... they mention use of a standard magazine... I know Glock mags the crappy ones are cheap to come by because they don't have the metal inside the plastic. So they flex and don't drop when you pop the mag release. You should see if you could find something like that to see about pulling apart and weakening the spring a bit.

Good luck and I look forward to the evolution of this project.

          front

i think a clip in front of the trigger frame would be a good idea. That way it would hold more paint. You could have them spirel(sp) inside, somewhat like a Qloader. And if you went along these lines, you could have them in diff. sizes. Imagineing something along the lines of an Ak-47 style. I think that they would be a decent market for something like this. Would be awsome for scenario play. Sweet on a tac-1

Perhaps all thats needed is a well thought out rail. Use all mag part as is and just have to mill a slot into the bottom of a body, and block the vert feed with a plug. The rail would have a built in lock/release for the mags/clips. Mabie even use the TIberius clips if they make some without having the air sorce in them.

These might give you some ideas to kick around as well.

                  or

or you could even use a WL body, just on the top right side of the clip have a hole and use hose, or even a hard plastic right angle(2 actually) pieces to put the paint back in the body.

                  or

You could go somewhere along the lines of a warp feed design, just put in a longer, more rectanguler(sp) clip like body. Could use a spring fed system, instead of the electronics like a warp

                    magazine search

It may be a long shot but i sent an email seeing if i could purchace some FN 303 Magazines from FNH. Since i just want the magazine maybe they wont see any harm in it. Hoping for the best, then will work on making a rail/body to clip them in.

EDIT. Well i got a NO! for buying fn303 magazines. lol figured as much. They were a bit big anyway.

I did this several years ago when Qloader first squirted out. This was done with only a hole cut into the rail (nothing modified around the sear) and no valve modification. Was all trigger (along with gripframe) and sear tinkering. The hardest thing is getting the sear to work properly. I could sometimes get it to work and sometimes not. I had to lower the air pressure from the tank to get it to fully cycle, but often led to the 'burps'. Project was ended when I ran out of food money.

I also did an alternate feed (not bottom) P90 style mag, Basically gutted a airsoft P90 and fitted it with a mag. The P90 style magazine feed was never quite finished, I could easily do a stock class or a spring assisted 10roundish tube but was going for more. Again, sadly the project was killed due to my college student budget.

These were done with no real tools, basically dremel and a sketch in my brain. They both could have worked great if I had the time/money to screw around with them at the time.

Wow, well done. How did you move the body and valve forward so much? What did you need to do to get the trigger and sear pin to work together?

yeah thats what i want to do
but when i tried to shoot the mag with just the sear i got the same problems

i think if i cut the sear it would work as a pneu

These are some great ideas (here and in the other thread links). Other people have already mentioned some of the potential issues that popped into my head when I started reading. The first was how to attach the body when the bottom screw goes pretty much right where your feed tube would be. I liked the way one person actually turned the body and valve assembly upside down, that solves the problem. The other thing I thought of was problems with using the sear as the trigger. When I was teching one of my mags I used an allen key to push the sear back. I definitely could not shoot very fast. I would want either a pneumatic set up (also done on the upside down mag), an electronic solenoid or a trigger rod, provided it gave a decent rate of fire and did not short stroke.

I would definitely be interested in purchasing one of these as long as it fires first strike rounds and looks factory spec, not really a fan of ghetto hack jobs (I can do those myself but they don't look that great )
