    10.8 V Warps

I don't know if people are still looking for alternate ways to up-power their warps, but I found a way that seems to be working fairly well:

    3x CR123A Rechargable batteries.

I cobbled together a carrage for them out of some PVC and a AA battery carriage then wired them into a 9v connector. It doesn't look the prettiest (waiting on a better way to hold these) but it ran my warp all day last weekend and I didn't have any noticable drop off. I suppose I should slap my volt meter on there and see if they're still putting out the right voltage.

Interesting, but aren't those batteries a bit more expensive than good old 9Vs?
I think I use them for my flashlight, are they, like, squatty, fat AAs?

Did you notice any speed increase?

I found a set of rechargeables on Ebay for under $10 shipped. And yeah, these are common flashlight batteries.

As for speed increase, I've pretty much always run my warp on 10.8 or 12v, so I really can't say. It's what I'm used to. Theoretically, yes you will feed faster running the motor at a higher voltage. You just have to be careful, because IIRC some boards can take 12v, some can't.

These do seem to have a more even output. When I was running dual 9's and a voltage regulator I did notice some dropoff on longer strings.
