Clearing up some scraps : Grips inside

Walnut, Quarter sawn walnut and mystery board.

I have alot of scraps laying about and have had trouble sleeping lately so I decided to do a run of grips to give out at a local even as part of the charity raffle. Nothing fancy fancy but everyone likes to win stuff right?

Suggestions/input/nitpicking welcome, I have till aug 16 to get them finished/etc...I'm thinking ridiculously glossy boat varnish....

    Looks good.

Might do some dark stain on the walnut.

Agree on the heavy gloss / laquer. That should help them hold up.

Woodburned designs on the light colored "mystery" wood are a must!

I'd go with the satin polyurathane. Stain is for ugly wood.

Pics are hit and miss, Subpar camera phone. Daylight pics will probably do them more justice.

Those grips look really nice man. What exactly did you use to make all the cuts on them?

            Table saw
            Compound mitre

Total tooling used L) indicates because I was lazy

            -Table saw
            -Compound mitre
            -Occipital sander (L)
            -Router (edges) (L)
            -Drill press with bit/fostner bit
-Name for it escapes me, but its a sanding tube at p160 that is based on an inflated drum that really gets those bevels nicely (extremely L)

              That krylon stuff is addictive.

Finished with the bunch of them. Hopefully they'll fit the guns they end up going to.
