    Possible to turn the Valve?

    Hi guys,

Is it possible to turn about 1 or 2 mm off the outer diameter of the valve, including regulator? If I had a cross section of the valve, I could judge myself.

You could do it but it would mess with tolerances, so i wouldn't.

I would say if your going to do it turn on the reg itself so that way you keep your are still in spec from the body rail and valve, only the reg would sit off the rail a lil bit, and if i recall its fairly beefy there anyway

That would be a better idea, it would be like using an air america reg as the back half then.

yeah i couldnt think who it was that did that but yeah im not posative but i think you could turn it considerably for weight reduction, then the front hell you could flute it (ie barrel fluting) at least up until you get to the body then once it necks down i wouldnt mess with that part to much seeing as its not as thick there

But then again the more you mill it the weaker it gets, so if it does fail, don't be surprised.

you mean explode in your face ??
On the SFL's some had slots milled down the sides , havn't seen one with the OD turned down though
My ? is why , there can't be hardly any weight savings by cutting so little & you can really only cut the back half

Not necessarily, it could just be a hole that forms if you're lucky, but exploding in your face would be a type of failing. It all depends on how much you take away though, but if you do mill the valve at all i would assume (for safety's sake) that the valve had been compromised to around half of it's previous integrity so i wouldn't use an adjustable output tank on it.

The OD of an M4 stock tube is 29mm. The OD of my Classic valve is ~28.5mm. I'm trying to fit a valve into the stock tube but as it is, the stock tube would be too thin.

So you would actually be encasing the valve in another tube ?
The front of the valve is ( apr. )25.2mm , the rear is 28.5mm
Even IF you can mill 2 mm off the valve(witch would only be a 1mm cut ) how will you fit the front section where the on/off is , make a sleeve or step the stock tube ??

I dont think its necessary to fill the front section. At the end of the day, the valve is kept into place by 1 bolt. A sleeve would probably be easier should I need to fill that section.

I think the Sydarm valve is a little smaller than the regular valve. If I remember, I'll try and check it out this weekend.
