I want to learn to fix 'em myself!

    xxx

I have 3 AGD guns. I have been pretty successful in the past by asking questions here and figuring out what I have to do, even while I'm drinking. What I would like are the resources and tools to be able to do this myself like reading the back of my hand. I know some of you guys are really into the tech side- myself, I like to play. I love it when I light someone up who has a $2000 gun and I'm using the gun I bought new when I was sixteen back in '94.

My oldest gun, which I'm the first owner is the one I really care about. It's an AutoMag Powerfeed with the feed on the right side of the body. The only additions are the LvL 10 bolt which I put in three years ago, a new spring and foamie and I've replaced most of the components inside the reg. Otherwise, it's all stock. I even have the original bolt and could be easily persuaded to put the LvL 10 in another gun and start running CO2 in this one again. The serial number is CF07743.

The next gun is a MiniMag with the Powerfeed mounted on the left. I don't know too much about it. The serial is CF29482. I bought it just to get a new hopper and some HP tanks. I'm thinking this would be the perfect body to put a Z grip, what ever and turn into a new gun. Maybe swap out the reg for the newest one and make it zip.

The third gun is another MiniMag, PF on the right with a RetroValve, SN: VV00832. It has a BenchMark Rail and a Flatline 3000 regulator for the HP tank. The FlatLine reg SN: FL02533. I don't know for sure how the numbers match up, but it looks very stock for that gun. There barely any scratches and I know what a used gun looks like.

I'd like to get a tech DVD and I'm curious if there are kits available for fixing many guns. I know that the o-rings and washers will be the same, I don't want to get in the same cycle of buying parts to fix one at a time when I can perform the same task to do them all at once.

Thanks in advance for any advice,
    Gabe Leyshon.

Yes, you can laugh at me

I just pulled all three guns out. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't get any of my barrels into the two Minis. With the old one that I've had forever, it's gravy. I don't know what I'm doing wrong . . .

If you want to learn how to tech your markers. The AGD videos are on Youtube. I think it's broken down in 9 different sections.

As for you keeping your makers in tip-top shape. You'll need to buy a few parts kits, that way you'll always have an abundance of orings. Since you have 3 AM/MM mags, one with a lvl 10 and a retro in an other (I'm sure that'll be growing into a few more mags in the coming years). I recommend buying 3 AM/MM parts kits and 2 Xvalve Kits (not the RT kits). Reason for the Xvalve kits is you have a lvl 10 in one of your classics and the Xvalve kits will have spare orings for the lvl 10 and the Retro valve. The RT kit will only have parts for your valve and orings for a lvl 7 bolt which you won't need cause you'll already be spare lvl 7 parts in your classic kits.

Another thing you'll want to buy are a few spare parts like an extra RT and AM/MM sear, power tube tips, bolt foamie (which come in the Xvalve kits) springs (which will come in your kits), an extra reg piston for the RT and AM/MM, extra RT and AM/MM on/offs and extra valve pin assemblies. Nothing worse then not having spare parts to troubleshoot a problem.

Last but not least are your tools. Find a small tackle box with lots of compartments to hold your oring and what not.

Go to a place like harbor freight or a flea market and buy a set of allen keys, long screw drivers, picks, wrenches to include an adjustable one, 1/4in ratchet and sockets (everything from a 1/4in to 1/2in sockets should be all you need), oil, anything you can think of you might need. Doesn't need to be expensive tools or box. You'll probably be looking at about $25-30 on a good box-o-tools.

      AGD videos:

      Great place to get tools:
      http://www.harborfreight.com/

Good all around storage box: http://www.harborfreight.com/multi-c...box-40528.html
I personally have one of these that I use to keep my spare orings, screws, nuts, bolts for my markers.

Might need to loosen the twistlock pin. There is a set screw on the botton of the TL pin and if you turn it counterclockwise it will loosen up a bit.

Tom's videos are stickied in the Tech section as well:

And yes, loosen the set screw in the twist lock pin, should do the trick.

Thanks guys. That was what I was looking for. I installed the LvL10 on my oldest one 2 years ago and it works great. I wanna get the R/T going well. The only other thing that is driving me nuts is that I can't get barrels on the two with the Mini body. They slide in but I can't twist 'em in to place.

I'm about to test out the original AM in the basement . . .

You may wanna check the length of the front grip screw and make sure it's not binding the barrel. Are you sure that the barrel is going in the full depth? Take the front grip screw OUT and then try it.

Pin problem solved, feeling a little better.

I oiled and gassed up the old AM, haven't used it in two years. The paint is also two + years and a little greasy. No breaks and I could pick off one inch targets in less than 3 shots in the basement.

I have a drop forward for the other MM w/out the RTV. What size bolt do I need for the bottom of the handle?

                    Thanks again!

Now that I've got one definitely working and I think I have the R/T working too, I just didn't have enough air- it's time for a challenge. I'm gonna keep the R/T stock, it's in brand new condition. I might go for a LvL10, but that's about all. I might put the L7 back in my old one and trade the 10 to the R/T.

The challenge: since I only bought the MM for the air tanks, I have no reason not to go crazy on it. I'm interested in an X valve and since I can fix this stuff I don't really want to pay for brand new. I'd even be happy with another R/T and L10 since, as far as I know the real difference is the weight of the stainless steel. I'd also like to find a cheap WarpFeed and if any of you know who makes one, a 30g CO2 adapter. Any thoughts on where to find this stuff?

I also have a friend who has a full sized CnC machine hooked up to Cad and does metal work. What is a ULE, why would I want it and where can I find the specs to make one? I read a few years back about the pnuematic trigger set-up, where can I find the specs for that? Do any of you know about a tried and tested way to 'silence' a gun while still getting good velocity?

I know this is a lot of questions, but one post here usually saves hours of searching online and usually works much better!

One more thing for the wish list . . .

A 'Z'or 'Y' grip, and why is one better than the other?

Z grip is more old school, way more of an extreme backwards angle. You can find a ule body here in the forums for less than you could likely have it made for, though the cad file is a sticky in the tech forum I believe. It's an aluminum body and shaves a lot of weight off. You can take off even more mass with a mephisto carbon fiber back sleeve.
