    Question for the parts makers

For all the guys out there who are making parts...do you have your own machining equipment or do you contract out to machine shops to get parts made? If you used to have a shop make them and now you make your own, is it more of a headache with upkeep for your equipment or is it about the same with what the shops charged? Always been curious about how the tinkerers do things.

I modded a ton of parts when I was still in aviation school, but now I'm really careful about what I need and who does it, simply because of the cost. Also, anyone that outsources the work has to be careful about their description of what they want done, because guys that work in machine shops typically (disclaimer there) aren't designers, much less paintgun techs. Ergo, the measurements need to be pretty well laid out.

I guess, the line would be drawn on access to the equipment and experience with it. Easy access = more homebrewing. more experience = better quality homebrewing, etc.
