    How to strip.........

Does anyone know the best way to strip anno off a marker body? I heard oven cleaner works good, any truth to this? How long do I soak it? Or do I scrub it?

        anno stripping

Lye and water will work. Mix it in a big rubber tub and put it in. Allow it to do its magic and remove.

Im not responcible if u screw up.

Lye with water is a fast way but don't leave it in too long or it'll start eating away at the raw aluminum.

There's also hand polishing, which is a lot more time consuming but a lot more controllable.

Just use some Drano Max, leave it in about 5 mins and then wipe for a minute with some old cloths to get the extran anno off, then repeat 2-3 more times. I actually just did this the other day and it works fine.

Good Lord!!! Hand polishing is HARD work and it takes me two shows of the Osbournes (sp)? to finish a 2 inch square. Have fun dude!

Hand polishing anno off is a mistake. Since the anno is harder than the raw alum under it you will probably end up with pitting. As you get through the layer of anno in one part, as you remove the anno around it you wear more raw alum off. Chemicial stripping is the right choice.

Basically, nitric acid and lye are the same thing, but I've heard about anno coming off and gumming parts, so make sure the body is completely disassembled.
If at first you don't succeed, put down the books and smoke some weed!
