    Carved a rail today

Seeing as I cannot attend the big event

    Bah, Humbug

I decided to cut up my standard rail to accept the warp ULE body and make it slightly more aesthetically pleasing.

    So what do ya think?

Thanks, I've got a small bench-top manual mill.

          I like it!

It's kind of hard to see exactly what you did in the pictures though. Did you do a "magic marker" anno-job?

Did you ever get your catalogs??

The top view shows the milling best, I basically just shaved the rail down with some long angle cuts, pointed both ends, and removed the rail for the warp ULE. I did both sides for warp just to keep it symmetrical.
The "magic marker" anno is actually the original anno that I sanded down, I didn't want the powdercoat between the body and rail for fear of tolerance issues.

Did you ever get your catalogs??
Yes, both catalogs came. I wrote "X-mas wish list" on the cover of both and placed them on the kitchen counter.

Edit: also did a slight job on the hyper trigger.

On a side note. Does anyone know if a AGD blade trigger would fit in the hyperframe?

Or, if you have a trigger, could I get the dimensions of it?

i'm sure w/ a little modding you could make it fit, or just make your own blade out of the trigger you have now. dremel tool the point in the middle down and then take and hammer it into the shape you want. other than that you would have to place some set screws in the trigger to activate the switch in the agd blade.

                  Nice Work!

I've always wanted to see a close up of a retro rail.
The front end also looks sweet with the tapered looking tip. I like it alot.

If I am not mistaken there has to be an o-ring seal placed between the rail and valve right? Will you be able to lighten it more? I see that rogue had taken lots of materials out from the innards. Will you do the same?

                  Heph.

PS what are some of your comments about the retro compaired to the rt pro?

                    Thanks guys

                    Hep,

Thats a classic rail with a Retro valve, not the original RT style. No oring needed, the air inlet is the same as the classic valves.

I really don't see the need to lighten the rail any. 1 or 2 ounces really won't bother me.

As for the Rt vs. Retro, I believe they work on the same principal, I can definitely achieve a higher ROF than the classic with the RT effect.

I didnt really understand how you got that color on the rail? I really disgust the original anno, and would like to do something about it...
By the way, sweet looking rail =)

                            Joni,
With a little practice powder coating is a breeze. Just like painting a car though, a great paint job means nothing without great body work. All the parts need to be smooth and clean to get a nice even mirror finish.
For the do-it-yourself-er all you need is an air compressor (10 psi), an old oven you don't plan on baking Christmas cookies in ever again, and a kit like THIS

Thats what I use, its great for small brackets and things and they come out with new powder colors and textures all the time.
