I've been tossing around a simple valve design for about two years now, and I want to turn what's on paper into chunks of aluminum, stainless, and delrin so I can have something in my hands instead of only in my head. I don't have access to a lathe and a mill, and I don't like the prospect of working up engineering drawings, sending them to a full-blown "one off" shop, and then watching my bank account disappear when I get their bill.
Any fellow AO'ers out there in the northern Virginia area have a nice lathe and mill? If so, do you feel like fiddling around a bit? I'm thinking we'll need to be able to mill, drill, bore, and possibly thread aluminum (probably 6061-T6), stainless (316?) and delrin, each up to 1.25 inches in diameter... five parts in all, I think.
I check this forum a couple of times a week or so. Leave a note if ya feel so inclined. :)
