I put trigger stops behind and on top of the trigger for my I frame. This way when the sear returns to the forward position, there is no play forward or backward. In doing so it keeps the trigger from rattling and when I shake my setup the trigger doesnt move...

I recently tried putting shims in my intelliframe to eliminate the side to side play. unfortunately, even though there was side to side play, it was a very tough fit even for an ULT shim and it just made the trigger hard to pull. I am going to make a trigger stop though, theres a thread about it in the Tech Forum.Comment

Shims is NOT the way to stop side play.It only adds friction and slows everything down. You don't actually want the trigger to touch the frame on it's sides if at all possible.
The correct way is to fit the trigger to the trigger pin.If that fit is good, even a trigger which is far too narrow for the frame will not have side play.
It does take a little practice, but is not as hard as it may sound.Pull the trigger and put in in a vice, with some soft clamps or other protection on the jaws to prevent scratching. Then put the pin in the trigger.Using a small hammer, gently 'hammer' the trigger pocket working your way around the trigger pin hole. What your doing is 'flowing' metal around the pin.Be sure to check your progress often to be sure your maintaining an even gap around the trigger pin.You may need to use a wide punch to get in the tight areas close to the trigger. It doesn't take much in most cases so go slow. After you have a snug fit on the pin,put some oil on the triger hole and replace the pin.If it seems 'too' snug, put the trigger pin in an electric drill, right at the very end and just snug it down.Run the drill while working the pin back and forth in the trigger, adding more oil as needed, till you have a nice smooth operation.Lastly,be sure that the edges are still smooth and square,if not simply sand them with a block until they are again.
If done correctly, you will now LOVE your 'new improved' trigger.
LMK if that was not clear enuff.

There is a thread about the process that RR is describing. I know it's around here somewhere. When I find it I'll put it up here.Comment
