    Side-saddle Halo mount

ok...we've got the warps and Qs both dropping your profile and pressure feeding ammo...well on a whim today my roomie and I did a test...mounting his HaloB to my Q's hosing and making it force feed the ammo up the tube...this completely unmodded HaloB had plenty of power as long as the hose wasn't severely curved (same rule with the Q and warp)...so why doesn't someone build a mount to put a plate like the warp feeds mount plate out next to a gun...only instead of a warp have a U shaped tube to reverse the halo's direction and then pass a hose out? I'll help anyone who wants to take this project on as long as I get a handful...I've got another plan in the works for a similar innovation dealing with another area of paintball though (it's too likely to be profitable, the halo is more of a novelty/low run/ niche product)...

this second idea is gonna require either an NDA (non-disclusure agreement) or 2 seperate shops to make the parts...if you've got access to a mill and/or lathe capable of metal work then lemme know...I can do all sorts of things in wood and plastic, but no metal capability...damn dad...why cabinet making instead of gunsmithing!

if there's interest in this I'll throw together some 3d mockups and get pics up here...

no sure how that is...only on initial powerup does it have to power them all the way up the tube...after that it's not much effort to get a ball pushed over the hump to drop another into the chamber...I could be wrong, but I don't see any significant increase...and that initial tube filling isn't more than a quick string...the spring is what keeps pressure on the stack, the motor just keeps the spring tensioned after you fire...

You wouldn't get the 8 or so shots you get with a warp when you lean to the sides. Also I saw on another thread that there's a motor the same as the Halo's at Radio Shack but that has more power.

          well yeah it's a compromise

definitely true...but think about the cost...basically this should cost no more than your average drop forward...it's just basically a mounting bracket...it's a price break on putting a halo next to your gun instead of on top...definitely not as powerful as a Q or warp, but something to do...

If you draw me some blue prints I could make a braket in a day or 2 out of aluminum or stainless? Im not sure exacly what you meen, but a picture would help.

              drawing on the way

I don't have CAD on this machine, but I do have bryce 5...I'll whip up a couple of 3d renderings and post them within the evening hopefully...more likely by tomorrow...basically though it's functionally just a U stretched horizontally so the ammo would drop outta the halo, run horizontally for about a ball or 2, and then it ramps back up out of the adapter into a warp-style hose..it'd probably mount very similar to those custom warp brackets that were being advertised on here a while ago(a couple aluminum arms about 3/8" square and 1.5" long running to a bracket that holds it onto the grip frame between the drop and grip)...

the only set specs are gonna be the size of the input neck (has to match a halo), the size of the ball tube (probably 3/4"), and the size of the output neck (warp, Q, or similar sized hose about 3/4" ID)

                some preliminary design pics...

Here are a couple VERY basic design ideas...first a general overall concept...the little wing towards the back would be where it would mount to the 45 frame and the ballpath input would be to the rear...I angled the path through the housing to give a better placement to the hose...all measurements were approximated with a tape measure and a halo in my lap...so take this as an idea, but not a plan...just trying to get the idea a visual form

                  A cutaway

Here's a basic cutaway view...obviously to prevent balls from stacking and jamming the flat tube path shown here will have to be changed to a gentle curve, but I had about 10 minutes to do this...by curving the bottom at a gentle bend it will allow ammo a much smoother travel through the block...

                      pretty much...but CHEAP

that's basically the idea....remove the hopper from the top of the gun...so yeah...sort of a warp ripoff, but the warp offers all sorts of strange shooting angles for many more shots than this would be capable of...and the warp has it's own electronics to max out the feed rate through the tube...I just think it'd be nice to get the thing off the top w/o spending another 75 bucks after spending 100 on a halo...

all great ideas but heres an easy way

                              Step1 Take a Warp
Step2 Remove electronices and motor so the wheel thing can spin on its own or make it only can spin clockwise
Step3 mount warp and attach halo
Step4 attach tubing easiest way i kno whow to do it
