    String trigger

So Im sitting in my shop.. staring at the wall and then I had an idea. Not too sure about how this will perform.. but here goes..

Latest news coverage, email, free stock quotes, live scores and video are just the beginning. Discover more every day at Yahoo!

The gold part is the sear... the gray is a thin multi wire string (the string you use to hang picture frames or something of the sort).. the green is a bar pushed through the entire trigger frame.

One end of the string attaches to the sear... wraps around the pin and then connects to the trigger. Im going to order a new sear on Monday and try to get this to work.. any imput to why this wouldnt work would be grateful.

I hate geocities... anyways without the picture I hope you get what Im saying..

Without seeing the picture, it sounds like you are describing something like a pulley. I've thought about connecting a solenoid by a pull string, or using a pulley to reduce work load, but have come to the conclusion that wear and the side effects of the mechanical system would make it not worth the effort. I'd be curious to see your drawing and how it works out for you.

Um, from your drawing it looks like you would have to push the trigger out opposed to the traditional pull of the trigger to make it fire..
That would pretty much make it impossible to get a decent ROF.

The drawing is a little off.. as you can guess I made it in about 2 min before going to bed. Where the string attaches to the trigger would be up higher.. or the pin down lower.. Im ordering a new sear today so Ill tell you how it goes.

You would need to make the string attach to the front of the trigger, going to a pulley in front of the trigger, then to a pulley behind the trigger, then to the sear, because yes, the way it is set up now (unless I'm missing something) is that you would have to push the trigger out to get it to fire.
