Solenoid info - Push or Pull?

I had another 4 am brainstorm, it seems I get all these crazy/stupid/brilliant/waste of time ideas after staying up all night.



Anyway...which type of solenoid is the most effective/efficient - push or pull? I'm looking for which one can get the most force out of the same amount of power pumped into it.


(push being plunger inside noid, when power is connected it pushes outward)
(pull being plunger sticking out of noid, when power is connected it sucks it back in)

I belive pull solenoids are rated for higher forces and are a bit more eficient.
