    Lightening the Intelliframe

Ok, I'm trying to figure out how much meat you could take off an intelliframe and still keep it structurally viable.

How much do you think the "braces" in the middle do? If you left that central brace, and took out the one the microswitch is mounted on, could you reduce the wall thickness?

Or could you take that brace out and leave hte walls alone?

Im also thinking you could drill some holes in the top area where the sear is.

I'm thinking you could remove a couple ounces maybe. I know sniper1fa has dremeled his intelli out some, but Im curious as to where and how much could be removed.

Feel feel to use photoshop to highlight what you think can go :)

I would probably leave the braces alone.

You could mill the area inside the frame behind where your fingers would be if your were holding the gun. (behind the trigger, inside the frame, under the grips)

If I remember correctly, there may be some extra material at the bottom around the grip screw hole.

I'll take a closer look at mine, I was actually thinking about milling mine when I had some extra time....

I think even if hte diagonal brace is needed, the microswitch mount can come out regardless.

You can remove the MS mount if you dont want it to intelly no more, also you can drill holes in the back of the grip, like the frame on my micro (see FS items on my sig). Also as stated erlier you can remove material from behind the trigger, below the grip screw, also drill holes in the trigger guard.

You can probably remove about 1 or 2 ounces. The biggest gains are in milling the body though, even if you have an ULE.

Good Luck, post pics when you are done.

After looking at my Intell, the area around the lower grip screw is out, a very small amount may be removed but not much. I think the best idea would be to mill it out of the area I mentioned before with a side cutting tool. There is quite a lot of material left in that area...

            ?

First off...Your intelli isn't light enough? Lol.
Sorry about the horrible picture, I dont have a mouse--I use my laptop's touch pad.
Also, what if you milled/drilled right through the slotted milling at the rear of the frame? Like..right through it?
