    Boaring tool

Does anybody know how to make a boaring tool to bore out paintball barrels on a lathe??????????

I think i saw something on Palmers site or Docs that had something like a solid rod with the blade on one side of the rod but im not sure and i cant find it again.

Making a Boring bar is a tedious task. i would suggest buying one. Try grizzly They have some cheap ones that seem to work pretty well. They make fixed sizes and also an indexable one.

Im not sure so ill ask, are you talking about the bars with the square holes in them???? I think i could make one of those ill have to ask my dad what he is capable of. We use the 1/4 square blades but i might just do that and buy that.

I was looking at that one but just a question, would that be too wide to fit a .68-69 diameter? I dont no if its 1/2" or 3/4" bar. But i could allways stick it on the lathe and knock it down a few 1/8's to fit in.

      Good find Tuna and thanks.

        How about this

Gun Drill it, you will never get it right by trying to bore it out. Trust me I make barrels, just look at the link:

          How do you "gun drill".
Im guessing you use a long drill bit, but how do you get a nice finish on it after that?

            Gun Drill

A gun drill is a special machine for drilling deep holes to size and straight. You most likely will have to find a shop that has one. They are not that common. To get a good finish you need to have the bore honed out to the proper size and finish before anodizing.

Could an 8" barrel it be done with a long 11/16" (.6875) drill, and then use a brake piston hone to finish it?
