    Push/Pull Solenoid

Anyone know where I can find a solenoid that works as both a push and pull? I want to be able to apply current to one '"set" of leads and have it pull, then remove the current and apply current to another "set" of leads and have it push.

Wouldn't reversing the polarity make the solenoid desmodromic?

A solenoid is basically an electric piston. When power is applyed the piston extends or retracts, based on it's design. When the power is removed the piston returnes, via spring pressure, to the starting position.

My mom works for a company that makes solenoids. I will check with her, but I do not think what you are looking for is produced.

solenoids cant push and pull in the same solenoid i think. You could take a neumatic ram and a solenoid valve. That would work

So, did you check? Why can't "you" put two solenoids in one housing?

Apply the right hand rule. Have the current switch directions, your flux switches directions also.

              push/pull solenoid

There are soleniods produced that have an extended, home, and retracted positions.

              I hope this helps out.
