    ram/4way combined

    I was trying to think of how to make a ram and
    4way compact and came up with this idea.
    Is there any reason why this wouldn't work,
    and how hard would it be to make?
    Also, has someone already designed something like this?

    looks like it would work, but I don't see why it's any better.

      That would be an extremely weak ram. The force of a ram is directly related to the surface area the air acts upon, vs the PSI of the air.

        action => reaction.

        when you move the shell of the 4-way just enough to activate the ram, the ram moves (by pushing aginst its cylinder). since the ram cylinder is the same as your 4-way spool, it would kick the spool all the way the same direction you were moving it with your trigger.. actually sounds kinda cool untill think about what it would take to move the trigger in the other direction after that.

        it would end up that your trigger would feel the direct force of the ram when you start to move the trigger in either direction.

        not good.

        out!

          both true.
          what if that trigger rod was actually used as the mount
          then the trigger moved the outer shell thing,
          also the ram piston in there could be much wider
          for more surface area (more force)

            correct me if I am wrong, but I do not see any Air Out outlets, the thing would work till it came time to move the ram into the back postition, from looking at the diagram you are also trying to work in QEV's, which judging on the ram head's size, would not be a good idea, also you mite consider making it electronic. Well **** now that i'm thinking about it, if you were to go electonic you could intergrate the whole front end pneumatics.

              even if you did get this 2 work, i would love to see how you plan on mounting it so that the trigger can actuate it, and it can move the back block
