Questions about on/offs in mags, tolerances, lengths

Hey, I didn't know where else to find this info so I decided to ask all my friends here in the Workshop.
    1. What is the travel of the on/off pin? I assume it's the same for all valves, not sure though.
    2. How precise must the travel on it be? For example--- Say the on/off rod part that sticks out from the on/off body and contacts the sear was a lot longer. If you just had that pole sticking through a trigger frame, and were somehow able to control the bolt, could you just push and pull to operate the on/off satisfactorily? I know the trigger rod must be an exact distance, that's why I'm not sure. Must the on/off pin go to EXACTLY a certain height, and then EXACTLY a certain lower point? If so, how close do these points have to be (what's the tolerances on that point). Is it theoretically possible to use a pneumatic cylinder to operate the on/off in the gun?
    Thanks
    Bert

Mags don't shoot darts... they shoot nails.
