Modified Rental Valve to Accept Lvl 10...

I have a Field valve and I would like to know what all is needed to modify it to accept the Lvl 10 kit?

I know that it involves drilling and I do have a drill press.

Has anyone here done this successfully?

Does anyone know what size/type of drill bit will do this correctly/safely?

    Interesting

I just finnished putting together my Lvl 10 on my Rental Valve... It Fits, No Drilling???

I think my valve is already modified. I also think it came with a Lvl 7 set up...

I do know that my velocity was well over 400 when I first got the Gun and tested it and the Rentals are supposed to only go to 280 max...

I'm also wondering if this valve was originally a Classic valve that was turnind into a referbished rental valve or somthing...

I should know more after I gas this thing up a little later tonight...

Nonononononononononono. The LX requires absolutely zero modification. The ULE TRIGGER, however, will require drilling (with a mill bit, for a flat bottomed hole) if you do not have a dual o-ring inside your on/off, um, cavity, thing, whatever. Just look in your onoff hole and see if there is a big oring and a little one or a metal rim and a small one. I would bet that yours has just one oring, cause I think only the X valves and one other have the dual thing. Specially the rental valves, cause they are not reactive, and it's reccommended that only RT type valves have the ULE in it.

I beg to differ. Having a rental valved mag previously, I want to install the lvl10 and I contacted AGD as to why it would not fit. They helped me identify it as a rental valve and I drilled out the taper that was just past the self the delrin washer sits on. All you need is a hand drill and a bit the will clear out all of the bevel but not damage the self. Installed LVL10 and it worked.

Um, OK, I believe you, but I think you mean "sHelf" and I'm not real sure where it is you are talking about.

Unscrew the brass tip from the power tube. Remove parts. If you look down the power tube you should see two "steps" or changes in diameter. The closest diameter change is the shelf that the delrin washer rests on. Leave this intact. Past the shelf is the bevel this is what you want to drill out.

I did realize after Gassing up my mag without Modifying the Rental Valve that it wasn't going to work.

So I went down the local Hardware Store with my Lvl 10 Bolt and Grabbed a Stainless Steal Drill Bit that was just a little bigger than the Inside tube of the Bolt...

I then grabbed the "Hand Drill" off the shelf and turned it on "Low." I carefully inserted the drill bit down the Powertube until I felt it stop, then "slowly" pushed the drill trigger about 8 times and within less that 30 seconds, I had a modified Rental Valve...

So, don't let anyone tell you that you have to have a qualified machinist mill this out for you. The little shelf part that you are slightly removing is very thin and not all that tough to drill through as long as you get a "Stainless Steal Bit"... if you want to be very careful, you can drill it out with the bit in your hand, would probably only take you 10 minutes...

Oh, tip: Remove your On/Off. this will allow you to see down the Power tube alot better and will also allow you to blow any metal shavings out so they don't get into your On/Off when your done drilling...

Also, My rental Valve is now sporting the Lvl 10 and the ULE Trigger On/Off...

In the Lvl 10 I have 1 LVl 10 shim and one Ule Shim with the 2.5 carrier.

The ULT On/Off has 2 Lvl 10 Shims and 4 ULT Shims...

Any Questions, Just ask... : )
