About a month ago I traded off my latest custom eblade build (my specialty) for something new to play around with... a PTP Micro Emag(dead sexxxy blue/black) with LVL 10 and the stock software...which is my first mag (sort of...actually I traded for a mag a year or so ago but it wasn't the gun I was told it was so I sent it back).
Anyway to begin with I know next to nothing about mags except for what I picked up watching an old automag videos my boss gave me a few months ago when I mentioned being interested in possibly getting a mag.
When the gun arrived it needed a new hall sensor which arrived from AGD at the same time..install was no problem.BUT after it was installed the gun was firing on the release instead of the trigger pull and only doing that inconsistantly...after tweaking and screwing around for a week or so and talking to AGD Tech dept. (had no idea what was wrong) a couple of times I found out ,quite by accident that the hall sensor is polarity sensitive...okay simple enough fix...the gun works fine now but with the stock trigger I can't get any kind of decent rate of fire...I actually glued a flat bar across the trigger (temporarily) just to see if a flat trigger helped...sure did.My ROF just about doubled. enough about that for now.
Being a natural tweaker I am not one to leave a new (to me) gun alone until I know as much as I possibly can about it.(I spent 2+++ years learning everything I could about cockers, tuning ,tweaking and building custom cockers and now if I build or rebuild a cocker for someone it doesn't leave my hands until it's a screaming machine...) So now I'm at square one again and looking (already) for everything i can find out about mags and how to mod, tweak and tune them to perfection...without access to a full machine shop.
I've made a few of my own parts using the basest of basic tools and no access to CAD software (dremmel, etc.)
Now comes the questions...some specific to Emags some just general stuff...:
are there any aftermarket triggers availabe?
any software upgrades available?
different boards that have more options?
The best place to start learning about tweaking and customizing my Emag?(website instead of a board)
Anything I need to avoid?(the list of DON'T DO's that always crop up with any type of gun)
anything that I should do right away?
Are there any serious problems with these guns I need to watch for?
on and on and on...you get the picture...it's kind of like dealing with a 10 year old newb with his first Wal~Mart spyder....I know NOTHING.But unlike Jr. I am ready to learn.
Just a little background info...I'm 36 and I've only been playing for 3 years but have been managing a field for just about 2 years. So far I haven't played competition ball (no time) but am listed as an alternate and gun tech for one of our home teams.
Up to now I have been specializing in doing cocker builds/rebuilds and tweaking eblades.I have also done a few other custom guns for myself,I have the worlds fastest pump gun in prototype right now,my gun collection runs around 10-12 guns at any time and also I do a lot of general gun repair work...just thought I'd throw that stuff in so everyone knows I'm not just another 12 year old kid wasting your time...
thanks!!!!!
