Need help with a new trigger design.....plz help!!!!!

Ok guys I want to make a trigger for my alias timmy, i have all the machines im going to need but I want some ideas on what I could make it out of. I dont have a definate shape or style in mind yet so the material I use can be anything.

    Heres my questions;

To you guys who have built triggers before, what material did you use and what style did you make? Also how did it turn out and for what kind of marker did you make it for?

Where can I purchase some of the marterial you used?

I would really like to make a delrin trigger, how expensive is a block or delrin?

What is the easiest material to make a trigger out of. Keep in mind im useing a highschool machine shop.

Can you guys give me some styles you guys did? Im not 100% sure what I want to do yet but I like the Techna Sythe II trigger look.

Also if anyone has some extra material I would be more then happy to buy it off you.

    Thanks for your help guys,

    -Rich

aluminum is relatively easy to do.

if your looking to do cheap prototypes, try wood, its also good for practice, and costs nearly nothing.

Haven't used any of those but Enco, but they come from a reputable source.
But anyway- Without a CNC machine you won't be able to make all these superaggmegasexytehhotness triggers you see. Unless you use a file or dremel, in which case all things are possible . The issue with delrin is that, while I haven't actually worked with delrin, I have used other plastics and they don't take well to files and dremels. Aluminum is your best bet. Go with 6061-T6 for the alloy and whatever else for the shape. Home Depot and Lowes actually have metal sections, but I have heard that the metals do not machine well and my limited experience with them has shown that they are not very strong. They sell many different sizes of steel and iron, but not so much aluminum. I would go with aluminum from Home Depot to begin with, and if you see it's gonna work the way you want it to maybe get some better stuff from online. I have also read many good things about getting stuff from junkyards, but for the small amount you need that might be too impractical.

Delrin (Acetel) is actually quite nice for triggers, particulary electro triggers. I use it all the time for a wide range of prototypes including but not limited to triggers. It machines well, polishes to a high gloss and is quite strong. Here's a Scythe ripoff I did for my Xmag for instance:

And this Mech Blade trigger is also Delrin:

Al is also a good choice, obviously but it is a bit harder to work with and if your design calls for much hand work, it's going to taqke a lot more elbow grease.

Either is fine tho, dive in and give it a shot.

Fireblade I don't doubt your skills for a second (nice triggers BTW) I was just saying that it would be hard for a home user without your magic touch might find it tricky to use delrin.

i would use some sort of nylon the military makes knives out of. I have never made a trigger before but you shold make it all thoes lttle wheels lke on the roller trigger and have two bumps in it so you can slide your finger up and down and shoot 6 times per stroke (one stroke = up and down once on the trigger)

            it may work.

ive seen something like the nylon trigger you are describing, but I have a hard enough time getting my timmy to stop bounceing so i dont get pulled ina tournament. If i played rec ball i would do your "roller" idea ina second!
