    How will this work?

I am looking to build something like DW hAir. I was wondering if it would work to use this valve

to attach to a clippard sm-6(the same thing in the y and vert grip emags) spring return actuator. I am looking to find out things like pull weight and cycle distance as well as speed.

    thanks

Hmm, link only goes to config page. Give us the model number so we can look it up.

the part no. is MAV-2R. I says that the stem travel is 1/8 so will this be the actual pull length of my trigger?
and the force required might be?

        Can't find the description.

But, that should be the travel of the trigger if it was directly activating the valve. The force would simply depend on the return spring.

The 2, 3, 4, and 5 Way Stem Valves Materials: Brass, stainless steel
          Function: 2 way valve
          Medium: Air, water, oil
          Force RFQ: 20 oz
          Max Pressure: 300
          Flow @ 50 psi: 4
          Flow @ 100 psi: 6.8
          Stem Travel: 1/8
          Used As: Normally Closed
          Mounting: 15/32-32 thread
          Buttons: Bush button actuators
          Actuators: Additional actuators
PDF file: Click for pdf file
          Port size: 10-32 threads
          Options: 90 degree positionable inlet
          Temperature: Minus 20 to 230 F
          Seal: Buna-N
          Finish: Bright brass
there is the description, i don't know what Force RFQ: 20 oz
and with a weaker return spring i can expect a lighter pull but slower recharge and since the valve is open longer it would use more gas right?
next question should i get it?

the stem travel is 1/8 then the trigger pul is 1/8 wich is a lot and heavy,

if ur gonna do something get a smav-3

tell me what trigger frame you have so i can tell you how to hook up a ram

it's going into an intelli, or i may try to put it into a benchy frame if it's gonna take to much dremeling. Is a smav-3 a part no or did u mean small 3 way. also since they would obviously measure the valve from full open to close couldnt I use my pre-travel stop to partially move and thus shorten the pull, and how do u know that it's heavy b/c some 1/8 pulls arent that bad. Not trying to be a smarta$$ thanks for the input

ok i just looked at the smav-3 and that looks hella awesome but if im pushing 40-100psi into that 3way wont the pull be kinda heavy also i havent seen a 3way like that w/ one port on the side before. so air into the first through and out the back to hold a two way ram. then it is moved to push the ram, but how does it block the other port(one holding ram) please correct me if I'm wrong on what ways it works. Also if that is the case, can i just plug one side and still use the spring return ram?

i own a smav 3 and it works fine with the air output in the back of it also came with 3 plugs

you cant plug the back with a 2 way ram -if you do there will be no way for air to escape

i use a spring return ram with it sm-2 i belive

i forget which air port goes with which side of the ram but its not hard to figure out

for the sake of explaining assume ports 1, 2, 3

when the 3 way has no pressure then 1, 2 flow -when pressed, 2, 3

so for a cocker you would hook 2 up to the reg and 1 up to the side that faces the back of the cocker so that when the trigger is not pulled the ram is pushed back

for a spring return, hook 3 up to the ram and 2 up to the reg and plug 1.

alright, that's great I think I'll be buying it. The lpr is the only thing thats gonna cost much. and w/ 1 port plugged I should be able to adjust one of my stops to take up the slack and make the stroke less than 1/16''. Thanks for the help and I'll prolly borrow someones cocker to test the lpr before I spend the real $$. thanks again.

                        no problem

you NEED a MICRO ROCK or a STOCK WGP reg or it will not work with the 750 hp output of your air tank.

not doing this will burst the regulator becaue they cannot handle that high of pressure

i can see you buying a cheap reg and blowing something

ughh...so the reg (any reg) that fits on the front block of a cocker cant take that much pressure. If thats the case I'll have to get an inline. Then I hook up the inline reg to my vert bottle. run air to it. but how, and where, can I adapt to a smaller urethane hose that goes to the 3-way. Maybe drill a hole down beside the screw that holds it then tap threads for a straight adapter. I really don't want any little hoses outside of the gun.
