Carbon Fiber grip frames?

I know the old school grip frames for the mag were "carbon fiber" , but the only carbon fiber I know of is sheet stock that you lay up with resin. The problem is......The old frames look like they were injection molded.

Does anyone know of a product that has carbon fiber strands(Im assuming here) mixed in with the resin? Is this how they made those frames?

i think those frames are just called carbon fiber because of the color, but as far as CF and resin, thats what most cf products you find are- sheets of woven carbon fiber in resin
