    Idea: Automag Wooden Stock+Rail?

    Automag Wooden Stock + Rail

I've had this idea in the back of my mind for a while, and I was wondering if it was possible, and how well it would work. While I don't have the money and/or time to do this myself, I know someone who may. It'd be nice to know id it'd work or not beforehand

Here's a picture of what my idea is. While the wood stock itself isn't properly shaped and there's no back (ran out of room) you get the idea. It'd look like a KP rifle + mag.

    http://img168.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img1...grifle26ti.png

But there are some possible problems that I'm calling upon your help to clear up.

    1. How much strain is put on the rail? Would the wood be durable enough to do the job?

    2. Is this idea unique? Has anobody done it before?

    3. Is there a way to simply adapt a KP stock or a BB gun stock to fit it instead of making an entirely new one? And if so, are they the right size for the sear, or would one need to make a new sear tip thing (forgot the name. The thing that hits the trigger) or shorten the stock?

    4. Since there is no frame, could I "permanately" add a twistlock (putting a bottom on the hole it sits in instead of leaving it open and covering it with the frame) or would I have to get an Emag body with cocker threads?

    5. The stock will be somewhat thick where the quickstrip screw goes. I'm thinking of recessing it a bit and putting a longer but similar screw into it, or recessing it all the way down and putting a normal allen-wrench screw into it that's reachable by a long allen wrench.

    6. I'm running out of ideas for an airsource. I can't do a gasthru stock since its wood. I dont want a backbottle/bottomline (duh, wood stock), or a vertical bottle. I'm considering three possible ways to hook up air:
    a) Mounting a VA horizonally off of the front of the rail and running a 10oz co2 bottle, 12g changer, or 13ci hpa like on a VM68.
    b) Like some K-rifles do, with the 3.5oz'er held under the stock with metal rings
    c) A 12g changer mounted to the side of the body, rail, or valve like a palmer's sideline stabilizer
    d) Remote line (last resort..)
Which seems like the better idea?

Now, it's just an idea... I'm most likely not going to attempt this. Still, it's a good idea and I hope somebody can use it. If I ever have the time or money to do this, I will in a heartbeat, though!

personaly i would suggest looking into a composite minifourteen stock(or a small carbine)you could use a pneumatic system like phish's to set of the trigger....

I couldn't find anything on the composite minifourteen stock, but carbine stocks cost 200$ and up. That's sort of expensive compared to tearing a stock off of a 50$ BB gun or making the stock from scratch :P.. And I don't need a pneumatic trigger, thats sort of not the point of this thread

i was thinking pneu trigger for simplicity of install. Try a composte shotgun stock to. those may be significantly cheaper(or and rifle stock, wooden or composie

Well, all of that complicates it. Adapting a stock meant for an actual rifle and making an entire pneu frame. I'm thinking a BB stock because it generally doesnt have anything in the stock itself unlike most real guns with stocks... And real gun stocks cost 300$ or so, while a BB gun is about 50 and comes with the stock.

well you got me tinkering. i bought a used stock yetsterday for thirty off ebay, and i plan to retro fit some pneumatics into it. if it work ill post pics. BB gun stocks are typicaly platic, and they typicaly come as just the butt section

Im not a huge tinkerer, basically because i work nights and I am lazy.. Just an idea though, why not recess a mag rail into the woodstock, that way you will have all the support you need. I would imagine it wouldn't be any harder than srewin the rail to the stock and you should be good to go once you figure out what you want to do with the trigger.

yeah, im gonna cut a block for the rail to mount to and put a pneumatic ram in it. then ill do something with the trigger system. im not shure if its going to be strait pneumatic, or im going to do something with electronics and basic selectfire( capped realisticly comprabale to a real assaul rifle ) ive got a pretty good idea on what im going to do, just have to get the stock in and tinker with it. one nice thing about using a realistic base, i can cram crap in the clip........

ill try to get you some pics of what the little el cheapo bb gun look like disassembled(i thought of that one before). one gun you COULD use , is a benjamin rifle. its an actual wooden stock.

BTWOT ( Been there working on that )

I have a bad way of over complicating projects though.. I need to locate another classic mag frame with trigger because I cut the old one up WAY to much.. and get an emag rail so I can use the sightrail screw holes to help mount this thing better..

I'll have some more photo's tomorrow....

I have to try and mount the stock - should be fairly easy, I'm drilling holes in the trigger frame which should secure it quite well, and there will be a screw/bolt that will hold it together over the top of the horizontal ASA (not mounted yet)
