    Here's a calculator I found in hooking mine up.

    Current limiting resistors are unnecessary when using LED drivers. Just connect the power supply to the driver and the driver to the LED and you are ready to go.

      And, if you look at the "power disipated by resistor calculation, you'll see most of the power is eaten by the resistor and not the LED.

      To get longer life out of your power source and not waste power through the resistor, try regulating the voltage.

      I always thought that ultimately, the best power usage is to use LED driver ICs or more exoticly a current controller circuit.
