    Reflective Eyes

I am looking to get a reflective optical sensor for an upward looking eye. Does anyone have a manufacturer and part number of a good one for paintball, maybe something similar to an eblade eye?

Currently I am experimenting with an Osram SFH 5140 / SFH 5141 , I believe it is just an infrared receiver, not sure.

Any info on the topic would be helpful.

of course you do realize that infared eyes suck. Since they can't pick up darker shelled balls
Shocker=spyder that shoots out it's butt

It would be cool if people who don't have anything productive to say would just keep their fool mouths shut. This is the workshop, not PBN.

Omron's EE-SPY411 is nice, but fairly pricy for a reflective eye. You can also go with EE-SY671 if you want some adjustment capability.
Osram's SFH9201 should also fit the bill, though I havn't used it myself. It's surface mount, so you'll need to make a holder and leads off of it.

The 5140/5141 is just a reciever, you'll need an emitter and something to hold the two at a proper angle and distance if you want to go that route. You can also put it and an emitter facing each other across the breach for breakbeam eyes.

          Hope this helped.

sorry, I was in the wrong for bashing his project. I was just letting him know what he's getting into. And I definately don't want AO to become another PBN. I was just saying infrared eyes will crap out on darker shelled paint. But maybe you have already addressed that issue?

That depends more on the software driving the eyes than the eyes themselves. Reflective eyes can work fine with dark shelled paint.

Thank you shatter storm for the info.

I want to use reflective eyese because i love the milling on my dallara and do not want to have eyes on the side. As far as software goes i am building this electro from the ground up and programing a Stamp 2 so hopefully i will be able to get it calabrated pretty well.

Any one with any more info keep it comming

                thanks

Have you thought of just trying to have your frame and body milled to accept the AGD ACE? The ACE on my X-mag works flawless... I never had any problems with any kinds of paint. I think it is probably the best relfective eye on the market.
