    how to buy delrin?

hey guys, im looking into doing some custom work mainly for cosmetics and fun and trying out some funk designs. For that I'm gonna need some cheap delrin to work with heh.

Ok ive read the stickies and i know I should buy from mcmaster or enco, except the process of ordering it or specifying my order really confuses me...

I am looking for chunks that are around as thick as a trigger frame and about 2 by 1 slate. I also heard somewhere that I can get 4' of delrin for $6, might have heard wrong though (almost certain i did).

If someone can provide some step by step procedures on purchasing some delrin on a website I'd be much obliged.

I bought one foot of delrin at 3/4 inch in diameter for $12.00. I bought it from a surplus Book that sells Round stock of varios materials. Out of the delrin I made two spyder bolts. I don't think you will find it cheap but if you do let me know.

BTW if you want about 6 inches of it I can sell it to you for $6 plus shipping ($1)

Enco does have 4' of round delrin up to 1" OD for $5.95 or something.

They also sell delrin you could use. They probably don't sell the exact size you want, but they will sell sizes you can cut yours from.

      Quoted from JoshGrrrr at pbnation

now i just have to figure out how to buy it from enco cuz whenever i search for delrin i end up in the plunger section -_-

on page 3328, there is black delrin. Any experience with that at all? I would rather use that cuz its cheaper and black fits the looks of my marker better than random piece of white delrin heh But thank you so very much for finding that for me. I at least know where to start looking now.

Delrin is delrin until you get to the kinds that are reinforced or are doped. Don't worry about the color. It doesn't affect the properties beyond aesthetics and light.

              Delrin is made by DuPont.
if you look around thier website (probably dupont.com) you should be able to find a way to contact them, and maybe get a free sample.

I dunno how cheap it is or whether or not one of their stores is near you, but there's a place called tap plastics, also online www.tapplastics.com that carries delrin. The only thing I have to say about machining things out of plastic is: NO ACRYLICS! They melt too easily and smell really bad while being machined.

Along the same lines, if you want to have somebody rapid-prototype any parts, you can do it online from StrataSys. You download a program from them (free), then import your CAD model and it'll do an automated estimate for you. I had them rapid-prototype the first iterration of a frame for a double barrel Mag I'm working on. It wasn't cheap ($274 for the part including shipping), but they turned it around in less than a week. There are a variety of colors and materials (all plastics) you can choose from, too.
