I'm trying to fit spyder electronics into my Logic VM ripper frame (older version). Joni did it with hyperframe interals and a morlock, I figured this would be cheaper. Well, the trick is fitting the noid in. I did this and gassed up the gun. The noid clicks, but the gun doesn't fire. The battery is freshly charged and everything. Here's the deal though, I had to dremel down the plunger coming out of the noid so it would fit correctly with the sear. Could that be it? It may also be that the bolt was sticking because the field strip screw and front frame screw were tightened down pretty tight. I don't have any air right now though...
Electro mod woes.

You need to know how strong the solenoid is. I'm going to guess that a Spyder solenoid won't be able to trip it. Contact CenterFlag like Joni did too get the noid, but I doubt it'll work with a Spyder board.
Research solenoids and electronics.

You should go to each gun manufacturers forum or call them up. Ask the OWNER of the company why his gun is better. When you get your answers come back here and tell us what they said.
You should buy my gun because I have 5000 posts that say I care.

I have a ULT, the spyder noid IS strong enough since they are obviously used in spydermags. I know the stock board has a low dwell, but it should still be able to fire or at least short stroke it. Shaving down the plunger shouldn't affect it? Ok, then it was probably just sticking because of the screws being tightened down to much.Comment

Since the spydermag mod works for many people, the noid should be strong enough. As long as you havent changed anything of the plunger thats in moving inside the noid, I beleive thats ok. Maybe ask some spydermag people how far up on the sear the plunger interacts with the sear? My plunger pushes the sear at the hole for the trigger rod, but for a spyder noid that might be different.
Make sure that the sear can move all the way forward. When the gun is gassed up, move the plunger as far forward as possible. There should be a slight distance between the plunger and the sear, if you move the sear as far back as possible without any force.
Also, try to trip the sear manually. Put something in the sear hole, like a small hex wrench, and se if the gun will fire. That might give you some tips if its the noid thats acting up or something else.
What dwell are you using? For reference, I have 15 ms dwell, but I'm not sure how much a spyder noid needs.
I hope that helps somewhat.Comment

The esp board has a dwell of 6ms. If used regularly this will cause pretty bad wear and tear on the sear and bolt, but it will still fire the marker. Before purchasing tboards, many spydermag users have just used the stock esp board. I think I just have to clean up the cuts and straighten some things out. Then when I get my tank back from hydro I'll test it all out. I was just using the local shop's testing tank.Comment

No, not that simple. Spydermags involve different leverages. It MAY be strong enough. It SHOULD be. Never say 'it HAS to be X'. It never has to be anything.spyder noid IS strong enough since they are obviously used in spydermags.
Try mounting your noid such that it can begin to travel a little bit before contacting the sear. Sometimes that's important for solenoids. And I would try using a powerex rechargeable because they are really hot.Comment
-
True. I was in a hurry when I wrote that. But it should work with the correct leverage. And thanks for reminding about the noid pretravel. It helps in my setup, and so does the powerex batteries.Comment

That'll be hard. There almost isn't enough room for the noid plunger to be brushing right up against the sear, it just fits. And I had to dremel it down to get it so. My friend (he's supplying me with the tools) and I will try and mount the solenoid better when I get my tank back. I'm sure we can get it to work.Comment

Also, think about this:
Lets say you have a Noid with a Plunger that is 1.5 inches long. In X Marker that plunger has a travel of .5 inches. Now if you dremel that plunger DOWN lets say, 1/4", then your new plunger travel length is 1/4"...
You dig?

Crap, could that be it? I notice the back peice of the noid (disk like thing) isn't coming all the way in contact with the body. I think that may just be because there's this peice of foam geting in the way (foam was added for mounting reasons). We mounted the thing crudely just to see if it would work. We are now going to refine it.Comment
