    Old School Project

I need some mag-magicians to help me out here...

I have a line on picking up an OG RT, with stock everything. It's all I can afford at the moment, but I want to bring it up to snuff over the next few months and I am quite capable of doing most upgrades, etc.

My question/challenge for you is this: Spending only $200 every 3 months or so, give me a plan for upgrading the stock old RT to something worthwhile.

(Please no jokes about sell it and buy some Electro peice of crap. I want only serious suggestions and I want to stay mechanical all the way. I will entertain the idea of going electric trigger, but not much more.)

This is a project for me, so please help me out. I have been out of the game for 5 years so all the latest AGD stuff is still a little confusing to me. Thanks.

I dont think that there is alot you can do to it, you can get a new trigger frame, barrel, drop forward or gas thru depending on what you like, there are a few splash kits for that gun, but they are very hard to find, and then a level 10. I cant rember if a ult kit will fit in a classic rt valve or not. The problem with a classic rt is that you cant upgrade the rail, body, or valve. If you are going to have $200 a month to throw into it, why not save up for 2 months and get a RT pro style mag? I like the classic rts, but if you are wanting to do alot of upgrades, a newer rt is the way to go.

For $200 a month you could save up and buy a custom ULE RT.

Only problem is that would leave me not playing for two-three months, and quite frankly I amnot sure I would live long enough to enjoy it at that point.

Use the Classic RT until you've saved up.

When you save up enough visit airgun.com. They have a number you can call to trade in your original RT and get a new body, x-valve, and some other parts, they want like $325 i think but you can still use your RT until then

No. Not unless you have the valve drilled by an AGD tech.

I upgraded my RT with an intelifeed grip frame and level 10... now it runs SWEET. Do that and if you want a ult trigger you are set. oh yeah you could mill the rail alittle to lighten it up. I ve been told AGD is NOT doing the upgrade program for the original RT anymore even though it IS on the website. If can save 400 you can get a Killer RT pro. I have all the agd markers with the exception of the Classic and the X mag (mini,rt,rtpro,emagX2-all have level 10 all inteliframed)

My younger brother inherited my Classic RT. He loves it to death, but he really wants to upgrade it to an eframe of something.

Unfortunatley, due to the fact that you cannot put a ULT in the classic RT vavle, his options are very limited.

Plus, since the vavle cannot accept the double orings at the top of the On/Off (reason why the ULT wont work), we cant put a set of emag lowers on it. The price of having the valve drilled and collecting all of the parts is more than it would be to pick up a nice used Emag and a lot less effort.

Basically, the upgrade path of a stock classic RT is

                    LVL10
                    Intelliframe

                    and probably Proteams Pneumatic frame.

I have heard mixed reviews of the LVL10 (Good-no chops / Bad-constant tuning and maintenance)

Intelliframe - what's the purpose of this? (Im not being sarcastic, I am really unsure)

Pneumatic Frame - where can i find more info on that? (Im going to google now)

LVL10 - Lemme put it to you this way, I have ACE(anti-chop-eye) on my Xmag, and I have never turned it on. My LVL10 has been tuned up once since i got it, and all I did was change a carrier. That's it. Once you have it set up, it take a little more lube, but it really doesn't need much service.

Intelliframe - well the pricipal is simple, 2 fingers are better than one. You can get more bps when pulling with 2 fingers. You will need the thumbscrew hole enlarged to accept the banjo bolt.

Pneu frame - check out the Dealers forum, or even Paintball Talk here on AO, and look under the name RRfireblade.

Another note, the ULT can be added to the Classic RT, provided you have the valve drilled(approx. $25 BradAGD) As was pointed out, by the time you find the lowers for an emag, you could have just bought an emag. That's if you plan on trying to upgrade to an emag from the Classic RT.

BAsically the only things you can do to a Classic RT is, LVL10, Intelliframe, and ULT(with drilling) other than that, there really isn't much you can do and still use the same valve. You can upgrade the body and everything else that you see people doing, but you will need to do a bunch of other things in order to do so.

MY suggestion would be to add LVL10, Intelliframe(or other frames for that matter), and ULT, then just hit the field, beat the piss out of it and have fun doing it.

OK... so here is my plan for the Classic RT:

                          Step 1: Install LVL10
Seems to be a pretty easily found and installed upgrade. Does anyone have a good "How to tune your LVL10" website or manual? I am sure that the fields around me are Mag-Haters so I will be on my own. I am pretty competent, but have never messed with parts such as the LVL10.

                          Step 2: Upgrade to a Double-Trigger
Not sure if I will go with the Intelliframe or something else. Don't want to spend too much here. I could swear I remember people just cutting the trigger guard and installed a double trigger into the stock frame. I do NOT want to go electro on this, so I am eyeing the Pneu-Frame, but that is a lot of money. I would go to a new Custom RT Pro likely.

                          Step 3: Drill -> ULT
This is if I find that I really love the RT and don't save money for a newer gun.

If you have time, you can do this yourself, with a bit of experience this can happen. It costs around 100 bucks since the LPR will be around 40 dollars.
