It depends on what board you have. Their are 13, 16, and 20 bps boards. I myself have a 13 bps board. The other modes, other than semi, are capped lower than semi is. You should be fine. I have a classic valve and level 10.

Yup, the classic valve can recharge up to 16bps. The Centerflag on/off might lower that like 1bps to 15bps. The ULT usually lowers it down to around 13bps. In any case, you'd be fine. If you had the 20bps board you wouldn't be able to use it to it's full potential.

You do not need the ULT for it to work though mind you. Mine works fine without it. And I wouldnt know about the classic's recharge, but I know I can cap it at 13, and empty my friends halo without skipping a shot or drop off, so if you have a 13bps board you'll be fine.

No, you don't need the ULT. You would definitely get better battery life with it though.

How long (estimated) would a battery last with ult and without?

Some of the classic valves had issues with the on/off pin length. Centerflag also included thier own on/off's to make the trigger pull lighter too. It was common back then for people to have to send thier Hyperframes back to Centerflag along with the gun so the tech there could install the right length on/off pin.

Here is a good article on Hyperframe / Classic valve:
