ok i got a mint shape raptor xtrme so like 10 bucks , i want to tinker with it and make it electro , i was thing i might be able to take the internals outs of a spyder e grip and somehow rig them into this frame , if anybody can offer soem assistance in this project it would be great!! thanks guys

im not sure about this but a spyder frame should fit on (its a brass eagle raptor right?) cos most brass eagle guns and VL guns are spyder clones e.g the orion if it doesnt you could allways go extreme and a weld it on, (i saw a tippmann 98c with a spyder frame and it looked welded but i dunno)
i dont think u'll be able to transplant the electronics into your raptor as my VL once had was a solid trigger frame so if VL guns are anything like Brass Eagles you'l have to cut a space for the board plus cut a space at the back of the grip for the lcd screen
but other than that i dont see why you shouldn't be able to this
sorry if you already knew this, only trying to help ya
good luck
Ben

Very possible to put the Spyder e-frame on there. It will require some drilling on the frame, and possibly shaving on the body, but it's totally possible... Putting the internals in, not so much... There's no routing for wires, no solenoid mounting, nothing... Plus the sear systems are different... E-frames have only a sear, the solenoid moves it directly... Mech frames have another piece that interacts with the sear so it only fires once... But yeah... Just get a Spyder frame, measure where the holes on the Raptor are, measure where the sear is, and modify the frame and shave the body accordingly...Comment

Raptor's arn't that great, and certainly not any better than a Spyder. It wouldn't be worth the effort.Comment

I meant to say that at the end of my postOriginally posted by Jaan... or you could just buy an electro Spyder and shoot that instead.

But yeah... There's just a good feeling that you get when you do do a project like that... It may not shoot better, but you've made it unique and you've made it yours...

The grip frames on raptors are cast in two pieces, much like Tippmann bodies are, and are hollow inside the two halves, so there's room to stick a solenoid, board, wiring and a battery inside. But other than having three sight rails on them, there's not much spectacular about them. They're basic blow-backs and while they can be as reliable as a spyder, they also weigh a lot more. The guns have huge valve chambers (compared to many smaller blowbacks like spyders and icons) and easily adapt over to lower pressures. Cooper-T makes a version of their undertow delrin bolts also. Taking a black or green receiver raptor would be an ok starting point to build up something on the cheap for scenario games. The silver ones work well too if yer going for a contrasting black/silver theme.
Here's a variety of ways I've configured some of my raptors...

As I said, there's three 3/8" dovetail (.22LR scope base) sight rails running lengthwise down the receiver, one on top, and one on each side just above the grip frame. The top one is interrupted by the power feed, but you can run additional raised rails, bolt on picattiny rails, carry handles, laser sights, red-dots, etc. The usual barrels (stock and many aftermarkets, like CMI Tru-Flights) are 7/8" outside diameter, so most any bicycle grip or bar end will fit.Comment
