How to: Spyder-Mag Modification, Reversed Solenoid

Scenario Dreamsmore info on the trigger frame can be found here

More frames will be added latter

Note: I am going to edit and add to this post for the next couple days. I want to add a upgrade list, info on different frames, and clearer pictures feel free to post your opinions and suggestions. I plan on taking better quality pictures soon.

i'm really interested in doing this, so i'v been snooping around.

i'v noticed that on spyder frames, there is a set screw that clamps the solenoid in place. it comes in from the top of the frame. could that be used effectively to clamp the solenoid in when switched around?

also, with the solenoid turned around, wouldn't the plunger be pushing the sear in the wrong direction?

The stock set screw hole on my dragun frames gets removed when you mill out a channel for the sear, atleast in the frames I have built so far. Also with the metal you have to remove off the top, im not sure if the set screw would still fit. Putting a new set screw below the solenoid (just above the capacitor), seems like the best place IMO.

With the solenoid turned around, it pushes on the mag sear just like a Hyperframe would.

i dont know why i cant picture it.
without modifying anything, doesn't the plunger push towards the back of the frame? i'm 99% positive it does.
so, in theory, when you reverse it, it would be pushing forwards toward the trigger.
but the automag sear has to be pushed back.

just back the camera away a bit when you take the pictures. In that first one i can tell your camera can get decent detail by the wood behind the frame. Your just too close

Ok then think the other way around. In a stock spyder/clone frame, the solenoid plunger moves towards the trigger, so to get it to work with the automag sear directly, you have to reverse it so the solenoid pushes the plunger towards the rear of the frame and pushes the mag sear.

You have it all right, you just have the direction of the stock solenoid backwards.

skoad, thanks for the tips, I will give it a try. That would make sence, since I was so close to the frame it was focusing on whats behind it...

i could have sworn. but now that i think back about when i had my TES, and thinking really hard, your right. because the sear was next to the trigger, and it had to hit the sear. alright, i understand it all now.

and i now have permission to use the school shop my my old shop teacher after school sometime to use a mill, instead of my old dremmel. sweet.

how do you guys get the solenoid to stay on the sear to push it? whats keeping the solenoid plunger from falling off of the sear? also where did you get that solenoid from? link?
