    Scratch Built Pumper

I've been working on this marker body for a few days now, a little at a time, and I've come to an impasse.

What I've got is now functional, and doesn't look too bad, but I'm torn between the choices I now have as far as external aesthetics go.

On the one hand, I can go minimalist, and leave it as it is, rounded body with flat sides. The new pump handle will also be simple and functional, maybe a window cutout to kinda break up the brick a little.

    OR

I can cut some gills into the upper tube (or rather ball mill marks that don't go all the way through, as the bolt has an oring on it), and some accent marks into the lower tube (again, not all the way through), to dress it up some. The pump would then get gills and accent cuts to match.

Under cocking is also a possibility, as I have purposefully not done the VA yet in case I wanted to add a guide rod. I like the traditional look of the "over the barrel" pump handle, BUT I don't like wear marks on my barrels, so I'd have to line it with delrin or the like, whereas an under-cocking handle would allow me to make a big clearance cut for the barrel and not have to worry about rotation either.

So, bring on the opinions. What would you do in my place? I want to stick to things I can do manually though, no CNC on this project, I want to do it all by hand.

Ano color is likely going to be a gloss red & black acid wash, similar to what AKA was putting out on the Excaliburs when they first came out (IIRC they called it Lava or something else similarly tectonic ).

Here's what she looks like right now. A cookie to the first man to identify the donor marker which I robbed the guts from. :eyebrow:

Ya know i've been toying with a simialr idea for my sniper 2 project. My two cents since it is an pump and all, chew it up to a sleek ultralight body and tumble when its complete. If done right it will have that clean minimalist look and shouldn't be a beast to maneuver.

The hammer is adjustable, through an 1/8" ID hole that runs all the way through the pump handle and down through the cocking shaft (heh heh, I just typed "shaft", and "cocking" right before it, heh heh). You use a very long allen key to reach down into and adjust the preload on the spring pack via a threaded two piece hammer.

At least, that's how the two newer ones I've got do it. The old stand by, is a much older one, which has basically no velocity adjustment. You have to use a combination of springs and regulation to adjust the velocity.

            Indeed.

BTW, nice job on those Spyder Mag conversion frames. Very clean install.

Nice Sterling, it'll look great with a "Lava" anno... But you know what would make it really cool? A stock class feed... Think about it.

                  Oh yes, I know.

Notice how the front of the upper tube is taller than the back?

Yup, that's cause I've been planning all along to make me a feed block that will set right on that part of the upper tube.

That way it's a convertable, vert feed when I want it, stick feed when I don't.

And I've decided that it's getting undercocking for sure now.

                      Thats got me thinking....

While you're caught up in the whole stock class mood, ever think of making angel threaded 90* blocks that take either phantom tubes or an oring for 10rnds?

Since Action markers stopped, its been hard to find one, and when you do, they cost your first born.

If this could possibly be a cheap(er) project, i'm sure the guys at MCB and SCP would get a kick out of it. That way i can make my SniperII stockclass.

                      Just a Dream...

With the undercocking you might just have the best lookin' and shootin' Sterling on the block, when its done...

                          Progress at last:

The black tube under the pump is a wear sleeve that will be pressed into the pump to protect the ano on the barrel.

As usual, I asked what everyone thought, and then totally disregarded the feedback I got, so I could do what I decided I wanted to do anyway. lol I'm an *******, what can I say?
