    cyclone feed on a mag

My friend plays woodsball most of the time and loves his a5. He also like the feel of my 68 classic mag. He would be easily swayed to the mag family but won't change because he loves the cyclone feed on his a5. I was wondering how hard it would be to attach a cyclone to a mag. I was thinking of making an adapter to mount on the dovetail, but was having trouble thinking of how to use the gas to power it. I'm pretty sure the blowback in the a5 is what causes the cyclone to spin, and i don't know how to get that effect with a mag. I know a revvy or similar hopper would be just as good but I think a cyclone would be unique.

Anyone have any suggestions on ho to do it?

    Maybe

I think the main problem your going to run into on this is that I believe that the cyclone feeds run off of excess air from after each shot, which I could be wrong, but from what I understand thats how it operates. Your problem runs in when you try to to this because you dont have anywhere to tap the mag valve to get the excess air from each shot. The only way I could see you managing to do it would be setting it up almost like a pneumag setup, but use the penumatics to operate the cyclone feed, but trouble with that, youd have to set it up to operate EXACTLY after the marker fired, which would be a pain. Main point here being, keep shooting your mag, let him keep shooting his a5, your not going to be able to get a cyclone feed on a mag...at least that I know of

      Turbo Loader

There may be a way to adapt one of these for the mag. The pnuematics are already present so it is just getting an air source to it. It is known as a Turbo Loader.

Here is a site that sells them:

        NO...... not the turbo loader

ive heard they are really bad. correct me if im wrong (i just looked at the pic and it looks the same as what im thinking of) but all that loader does is blow air in to your hopper to aggitate the paint. what was that board game, truble i think, where you pushed down on the dome and i poped the dice up, kind of like that.

What you could do is get a pneumatic 2 way valve similar to those on the pneumags but only 2way, and get an lpr and set it up so that every time you pull the trigger a burst of air is sent to the cyclone feed. The only thing is that the longer you hold down the trigger, the more air the cyclone feed gets.
I dont know exactly how the cyclone feed works so I dont know if thats a bad thing or not, but the only way to set up a cyclone feed exactly like how a tippmann works would to be to set up an electronic circut, using an intellifeed mount for the switch, so that when you hit the trigger and tripped the switch the electronics would open a 2 way solenoid valve for a designated amount of time to get the right amount of air to the cyclone feed.

I say get a 2 way regulator from a line, direct some air to the cyclone, and almost all of it to the valve

not sure if that would work, just an idea I suppose from my limited knowledge of air systems

my guess is the cyclone feed uses a ram that's pushed forward with the blowback air from the A5. then it get's reset by a spring. The ram pushes a gear with a ratchet on it, and that spins the feed. If you set up a pneumag with the trigger pull actuating the sear and the trigger release actuating the cyclone feed. then it would be timed right. I don't know how well a 3-way would work for a short light trigger pull....

this may be a worthy project, to have a cyclone fed pneumag. Electro-like mech trigger, mechanical anti-chop, and mechanical forcefeed loader.

cyclone feeding a mag is an intresting idea however not very practical. But that doesn't mean by I would'nt like to see it.

Modifiying the 68 carbine that you linked to would'nt be all that difficult. Since the carbine uses the CVX valve all he needed to do was tap a line off to feed the loader and mount it to the carbine. making it work on a mag would be a lot more difficult.

Get him to buy a 'mag and a Halo B. After using it for even a game, he won't even think twice about his old cyclone feed.
