To Anodize or not to anodize.

That is the question. One of the things that does suck about mags is you cannot anno the mainbody unless its ULE. Sometimes anodizing everyhing else can make the gun look half done. So here is what I have:





I picked this up from medic49675 earlier this year on MCB, and absolutely love it. The green parts (grip pannels, barrel end, rail, and velocity adjuster) don't match exactly, but they do look really sharp nonetheless. Well I have been anodizing my own stuff for a bit now: http://www.paintballcity.org/forums/...read.php?t=216
and getting pretty good at it if I do say so myself. So my question is should I anodize all the green parts, make them match? if so what color? splash? fade? solid? all black?

Let me know what you think, or if you have any ideas.

I would say anodize the aluminum and get the body powder coated. Powder coating can look good as well.

I mean is it simply dipping alum in a liquid,
or charging with electric while dipping it,
is it sprayed on,
or down with a powder some how?

Please describe the process for me.

Powder coating is when you spray down a part with powder that clings to the part, then you bake it in an oven and it gives nice tough coat. When done right it can turn out pretty good and you can use it on SS mainbodies like yours.

Im not sure on the specific annodizing process but I think your first description was pretty close

Due to the many different alloys used in that marker, your chances of getting the parts to match exactly are not very good. I say leave it alone. It looks fine to me....

annodizing is basically dipping parts in acid to get rid of previous coat, then dipping it in new electrically charged dye to essentially "make it a part of the gun". There are better and worse ways of putting it, but thats the skinny of it all

You actually use an acid bath and electricity to grow alluminum oxide on the outside of the part. The crystals from this small growth are harder than standard alluminum, and poreus, Allosing the actual metal to be dyed.

Powder coating wont really be neccesary the black parts look amazing.

You could powdercoat it green for cheap. And is very durable and long lasting as well.



Anno SS takes more time as you have to plate it with aluminum first, then anno it, costing fortunes more and taking a lot of time.

I don't want to change the color of the steel parts. That wasnt the question. I am only looking to annodize the green alluminum parts.

how exactly do you do splashes and fades, ive done some anno work at home but its only been single color expirimental stuff, btw your colors look great.
