    New hopper

I have an idea tell me what you all think.
Two problems with loaders are they look like butt in top of the gun and they will not fire at all angles. Not to mention the like to stick out and get shot.
To solve the looks and getting shot problem something shaped and mounted like a Q loader is a pretty good solution. It would mount to the feed neck and have a molded feed tube that would run to the neck. The tube could hold the normal hopper volume since it would not have all the internal mechanics a Q pod has.
Now for the feeding at angles issue. Since the loaders shape would not lend its self to gravity It would have to have a way to push the balls into the feeder. I was thinking the force feeder from an empire loader would work. It would be an easy matter to adapt the feeder engine and tray assembly from an Empire onto the end of the tube. A bladder or could be put in the front end of the loader body. The bladder would be attached to a discharge air source on the gun like people used to have on the guns to push the balls into the feed neck. As you shot this air would go through a tube into the loader body. There could be a small check valve and regulator built into the line. It would inflate the bladder and take up the empty volume in the loader and pushing the balls into the feeder. The pressure on the balls would be pretty low, just enough to feed them and it would allow you to shoot at any angle even upside down.

if I understand this right, and you can shoot it upside down, does that mean the thing inflates all around on the inside? And what happens when you need to reload? wouldn't you have to take extra valuable time to deflate it?

Just so you know, any forcefed hopper, like the halo or vlocity(not sure about the egg)can shoot upside down, sideways and any which way you put it. And as the guy above me said, what about deflating it when reloading? Or would you have it used a pod based system like the Q?

The Halo can shoot upside down for about 5 shots.. if your lucky.

A better solution would be to have a pod shaped hopper that loaded from the side through a sliding breech or traditional lid. Then you could have a spring that is coiled completely when the hopper is full, and that sring would be attached to a plate that put pressure on the balls which are fed through a halo type feed system. When you need to refil, you pull back a tab that sticks out to lock the spring/plate system back into coiled position. Not sure how the motors and batteries would fit into all that.

Take a look at sod-throwing trucks.

Under the barrel, parrallel, place a long hopper, v-shaped.

At the bottom of the V, place a belt with paddles. The treads will travel at the bottom of the v, which stops at the top of the treads. Balls fall into the treads. Treads travel towards the back of the hopper, the last two inches of tread are covered.

Balls fall between the paddles, and are moved onto the back of the hopper, where they are spooned out like with the new tippy feeder. THe balls feeding push balls ahead of them and shove them up a tube, and into the breech.

You would need to synch the belt with the trigger.

YOu could hold a heckuva lot of ammo with this setup.

And you could reload with regular pods.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but are not the belt feed and under barrel loader position portions of the "sod truck" idea similar to the feed system used on the old AT-85 ?

I think it was. The way the magazine worked did only have *basically* that one belt lifting the balls. I think they had another model that did basically this same thing, I just cant remember the name. It's time to break out the old APG's!
