    Electro-mag question

I've heard a lot of talk about homebrew emags lately and I have a question. Lots of people have gone the pneumatic solenoid/mpa-3 route.. Others have gone the spyder-solenoid route. It seems like using a simple spyder type solenoid would be the easiest and cheapest. Is there any reason why you would go for the more complicated pneumatic solenoid route?

Mags need a fairly high dwell to operate, this means a short battery life for a spyder (pancake) type solenoid where the electro-pneumatic (EP) setups use very little battery to fire a shot, however EP setups will use slightly more air which would mean a little less air efficency. So another words:
Spyder type mods, not efficent on the battery, solenoid wont last as long at the high dwells, but uses less part, and doesnt require anymore air.
EP setups, use air so not quiet as efficent on air, have a much longer battery life, the only thing on the ram that could mess up is an oring (although the solenoid could have problems), uses more parts, and is more complicated to build.

Both setups work great when setup right, with the right parts in either one, you can have a reliable setup that can last for a long time. The choice is yours really.
