Milling a ULE body with dremmel

has anyone milled their ULE with a dremmel? i was thinking about doing it, but i dont wanna ruin the body.

I was just gonna shave the front down like an exile body. think it should be easy?

Not a good idea if you ask me, and for the love of Kaye don't do it freehand. I would only ever consider doing that with a setup that would make a very precise clean, straight cut exactly where you wanted it. Freehanded Dremel with a cutting wheel= from my experience.

freehand milled a classic body of mine when i had nothing better to do, and it was the worst idea ever. Get someone professional to do it, ask luke or rrfireblade

        Possible option.

Dremel makes a drill press type stand for the dremel tool, if you're gonna try it I'd at least try that first. I have seen decent mill jobs done by putting milling bits in a standard drill press and being very careful about how they moved the material.

these guys have no clue what they are doing i have a done this a few times and it comes out fine i would suggest going slowly and planning out what you want.... i would use a marker and shade what you want off look at it and then decide.... i have made mods to ules for my pumpmags but they were in an unseen area where your talking about youd have to reanno because its the front if you do use a dremmel cut close to where you want it with a wheel then shave with the sanding attachments you can always clean it up with a vise a towel and a hand file if ......you DONT OVER CUT DONT GO FAST im sure it will look fine maybe try on a junk piece for practice mod one ule underbody cut with dremmel heres a good example of what im talking about http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=2834974 and pic 2 http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=3151842 is basically my finished pumpmag notice the phantom feedgate? ? yea its mounted this is my personal one i have done 3 like this but only kept pics of this

i dont have my mag infront of me and i dont remember the exact shape of the front off hand, a pipe cutter might work to get a streight edge the just hit it up with some emory cloth.

I would suggest putting tape around the body leaving where you want to cut exposed. This will give you a good guide that wont wear off. As its been said, dont cut to much, you can allways cut more latter, but you cant add more metal back. Also dont forget, thats an expensive peice of metal that you are going to be cutting up.
