    Converting PGP to constant air: need tapping advice

    I doubt many of you here are familiar with the PGP, but I'm going to post here in the off chance that someone is.

    Anyways, I want to convert my PGP from 12 grams to a standard co2 bottle. Palmers will do this mod, but it costs about $70 (more then what I paid for the PGP).

    The way that I've thought about doing it is just drilling and tapping the bottom tube (where the 12 gram goes) for 1/8 npt threads and then running macroline to an asa on the bottom of the grip frame.

    My fear is that there isn't enought metal there to tap. Looking at the lower tube of the pgp, the walls seem pretty thin. I'm afraid that it won't tap correctly and I'll end up with a $65 paper weight.

    Do any of you have any advice on how to do this?

    What people useed to do is tap right into the valve.

    What I would do is use a dummy 12 gram. That way you can go back and forth between 12 grams and constant air pretty easily.

    Here are a couple of options from Cooper T;

    You might want to try the info at the PGP owners group;

    PGP OG

    Or for stock class and pump stuff check out M Carter Brown and Stock Class Paintball;

      Thanks Jaan.

      I think I might try the dummy 12 gram idea.

        there isn't enogh material in an empty 12 gram to tap 1/8 "NPT threads without sealing the line you are looking to thread in. I have successfully made a dummy simialar to the one without using a VA I ran an 12" stainless braid to an ASa on my Delta. I tapped the 12 gram you get about two good threads but not enough to seal. Then I used a 2 part epoxy to seal the line into place. I'm sure over time the epoxy will let go but I figure it'll work for a couple of years. JB weld was the other option but it almost seemed to permanent.

        Best of luck

          buy a c/a adapter you can get one used for like 20 bucks ... check out the B/S/T in the forums you were given in the first post. It's a way better option than possibly messing up the gun or making a questionable dummy 12 gram.

            First off I am shocked that you think AO doesn't know what a PGP is let a lone the answer to the question.

            Keep it simple, spend the money and buy the Cooper-T CA adapter.

            While you are at it, buy the rear velocity adjuster.

              That's odd.... it worked for me without epoxy. Although it wouldn't be a bad idea to have it.

              lol. I know that they know what a pgp is (who doesn't?) but most of the threads in the workshop have been related to pneumags lately.

              Why spend the money if I could do it just as well myself for free?

              Already got one.

                Because, if you are asking such a simple question, you probably can't do it yourself. Not to sound rude, but even a dummy 12gram mod is not as easy as you think and spending a couple bucks up front will prevent you from spending a lot in the end to fix what you break.

                Just a suggestion from someone who has a lot of years of experiance with custom guns.

                  I see what your saying, and your right. I really don't have any experience doing anything like this.

                  But I have an interest in it, and I have to start somewhere.

                  And so you know, I did the 12 gram mod. It works great.

                    Hey, WJR, I thought you were trying to get rid of the PGP, lol.
                    And are you still interested in the mag?
