    difference in valves for pneumag...

i am interested in doing a pneumag conversion to my 68 mag, and was wondering whats the differences in the valves used? i see most people using the MSV-1 or 2 but not a lot using the SMAV-3. are there any major differences besides size? or advantages of one to another? there is a store near where i live that sells Clippard parts so i could get all the parts and not have to order anything besides the rams for the MPA-3 ( i think). would everything be hooked up the same to the SMAV-3 as to the MSV-2 like how the How-To by Shingo describes? any information would greatly be appreciated. thanks.

Well, the MSV-2 is the easiest to fit, over the MSV-1, as you don't have to drill through the frame for a nail to activate the valve. As for the SMAV-2/3, i have no idea, except to say that i hear the trigger pull is heavier than the Fabco parts. I'm pretty sure the parts all hook up in the same way.

i want the trigger pull to be as light as possible to walk it better. oh and also i found another store that sells Fabco products so if the MSV-1 and 2 are the better choice then i wll get one of them. anyone else have some input on these valves?

The only real upside to the smav-3 is it's mounting system. In frames that don't have a intellifeed brackets, it's hard to mount valves msv valves. With the smav-3, you can just drill a hole for the threaded end of it to sit in.

So, what kind of frame are you using?

i have got two intelliframes. one that has been completely gutted out with none of the original brackets inside, and another which is completely untouched. thanks for all the info so far guys, more is appreciated so i can learn from the best.

so pretty much the MSV-2 valve has a lighter pull to it and can be mounted easy if the brackets are present... that it as far as advantages?

The lighter pull should mean a higher rate of fire is attainable, however i've not tried the SMAV 2/3 valves for comparison so i can't be sure of how much difference there is.

ok cool. i guess i will go ahead with the MSV-2 valve since it has a lighter pull and thats what most everyone else is using and i haven't found anyone saying that have had any problems with them. plus the whole how-to uses the same valve. thanks for help!
