    Milling

Got a mill. Looked at former automag mills... Karta seems to be a common one, with one big question, why does that deep side cut stop at the air chamber? Does it have to? (Besides making the "wings" unstable)

saying another pattern was created... one could show off the bolt? I cant think of a problem with it but i began thinking maybe the air could escape around the olt and lower efficiency? Other than that any other problems forseen?

My guess is the cut stops there to keep the bolt area clear of debris.

If you've got a mill, you could try installing a lexan window into the bolt area.

yea, the debris idea was the other one i had... keep dirt/paint out... lexan idea sounds neat. ill probably get around to doing it all in a couple weeks... (gotta decide which of the 3 ULE bodies to "destroy"... maybe ill start with my classic body since those are cheaper to get ahold of)

Before you go down the lexan road, soak a sample of the lexan that you get in your chosen automag lube. Different lubricants, particularly hydraulic fluids (which are similar to air tool oil), will craze lexan badly. Acrylic can be used sometimes where polycarbonate cannot because of the oil compatibility.

Poly can turn a really ugly pasty yellow, which would defeat the original idea.

Round portal windows would be pretty interesting too.
