Hey guys, i'm starting to look into one of my mag projects and was wondering if this noid meets the stroke/force required to trip the mag's sear (with or w/o ult). thanks guys!

aha... but doesnt the e-mag noid require something more than a 9volt? i'm trying to get a noid that would be able to trip a ULT off a 9 volt and not stick out of the grip. this way i can put it in a y-grip

I see. Well, the sear arm at the bottom moves about .125 inches so You would be looking at a realistic range of motion on the noid of like .130 at 9 volts. That's still only about 3oz at a 10% duty cycle.
For a ULT you need something over 15oz to pull the sear quickly and reliably. Off the top of my head I'd say around at least 20oz would be very good performance. Here is the graph for the solenoid found n the emag, I would guess that it's running the 30awg (10%) curve at 16 volts.

If your not afraid of a small awg solenoid... this will run 9 volts on the 10% curve well beyond what you need for force and distance. But rememebr, any of these noids will FRY a 9 volt battery and you be replacing batteries as fast as air.

arg, so true. so is there one i can run off a 9volt that wouldnt fry it that could activate a sear using ult? it could even be a pancakeish noid, as long as there wont be too much stickin out of the sides.Originally posted by DoobieBrain...hurts...

You should be able to run an emag off 9 volts if you swap out the current S-10-50 solenoid out for an identical s-10-50 that has a smaller AWG rating and the same number of ampere turns (AT). Call MSS and order an S-10-50 noid made for 1500AT, then swap out the bodies of the solenoids and use the same plunger. Then get a 9 volt rated board and a huge capacitor.
Your battery will not last long at all though, so be prepared.Comment

hrmmm alright... bah, maybe a pancake noid would be a better way to go? kinda like a spider mag deal?Comment
