Should machine very well. I would say use a sharp tool.

I haven't actually machined either one, but I would think they machine differently- the wax would likely be more flaky while the delrin would be more stringy, but that's just a guess. From what I've heard, however, delrin machines easily and well. I would be careful with sanding though, if you use power sanding tools make sure to be careful, as it will either eat it like crazy or melt it, or both. Hand sanding won't do either of those, and neither will power sanding if you're careful.

Delrin is kind of redundant. You usually have to make cuts 2-3 times because it kind of rebounds back to size.

It comes off really stringy, and can get tangled around the work. So if anything, just peel it off while your cutting, its not that big of a deal.

Delrin is really fun to hog, I could probably hog 3/8" at a time with no problem.

            Delrin machines very well.
Dont get to aggressive unless your using coolant, it'll heat up and give you burrs.
By special tools do you mean cutters (i.e. end mills, lathe bits)?
