Well, my hope is that I can get enough details to just post plans and everyone can make their own (or some enterprising soul with more time and electrical experience than I can sell them). The parts are cheap so far so if I do put together another kit in the coming weeks I'll send it your way. Good links though; I'm pretty sure the Euro x-mag uses this potentiometer:

And here is the jumper to the board you'd want to splice into (first and third pins)

All that leaves is the resistor... which based on a resistor chart appears to be 250 ohms with 2% tollerance. Is that correct? Is that how I'd ask for it at Radioshack?

Yea - I have found all the parts just trying to get one or two sent off to some of the more technical guys than myself and see what they think.

Working on installing one in my Project CnC right now. The old ace is broken clean of the board. Looks as if the passenger side driver isnt used at all on the xmag ACE board... Unless the trace is in the board but i doubt that very much.

Im going to solder in a square component mount. that way if the eye is ever to go bad i can just pull it out and pop another in. It will also make testing alot easier.

Will post up pics and my findings later.

Any success? Really curious how they work with the ACE boards instead of euro wiring harness...

ok finally got some time to work on this thing. Looks to be that the rear passenger pin isnt used at all. Ive looked at 2 ace boards and neither have a trace at passenger rear.

Here is where i am confused with my project repair. With both the stock ace and the new one im getting the same result. Using xmod 1.8 to tune the ace, the eye always shows as on. At first glance it looks as if its completely broken. Here is where the fun begins.

If I touch the pot tweak on the potentiometer Using a non metalic opbect the ace eye goes Off when you put your finger over the eye... and comes back ON when you remove it. Why is it working in reverse? and why do I have to touch the potentiometer?

                Anyideas???

I have tested the eye sent to me , the resistor is not in the correct location to power the eye. All of the pins are in use. The driver and right passenger are both 5v on the ACE board. I have made one with the parts provided and will do some testing this week. If you want to view the IR emitter use a black and white video camera. Also remember outside light emits IR and will trigger the collector diode, so care needs to be taken to shade from light.

Please explain the "resistor is not in the correct location" Couldnt the eye face the passenger side of the marker with both its driver and rear passenger powered off the 5v?
Im not home to look at it so I could be totaly wrong... But I know my eye is working in the ace board... just not the way it should.

I am going by the way the ACE boards are wired. There is no resistor in series with the 5v. The resistor value may be different also seeing as I am going by the ace board.

OK, so my issue with the eye seeing the object when there isn't one, and not see one when the eye is blocked, has a development.

When I turn all the lights off, the eye doesn't see anything... and wont react. What would cause that? Obviously the eye is seeing the light from the room. So the collector works... But what would cause it not to see its own light?

Could a bad potentiometer cause this?

I'm jumping in late so please forgive my ignorance but from what I've read so far ACE boards are no longer being made, so who made them originally? AGD or subcontracted, and would there be enough interest to petition a small run? Or is this destined to be a DIY project?

Sorry guys - I'd help out more if I could but I don't have an ACE board or an EE background. Only the Euro wire harness version...
